I need to quit smoking

wtf.gif
So how ya doin? Smoked one yet?

NO SIR! In matter of fact, I am going to bed right now. It is getting too tempting...I have to get up early anyways.

Over 12 hours now!!

can i go smoke a couple of puffs and be ok still?
One puff and you have to start all over again.

Go buy some pretzel sticks. Grab one and hold it like a cig if you get temped. People might look at you funny, but it can help with the psychological aspect of having something "there" while your body gets rid of the nicotine.

Keep it up! We're pulling for you.

I have some pretzels. I will give it a try. I am doing ok I guess. Every now and then I want one so bad I almost go crazy....kind of like when you can't ride your busa all winter and it starts nice outside....but 1000X harder.

Are you just going cold turkey? Some patches or pills can help. Sorry if I missed it, i was trying to read the whole thread this morning but it is long.

cold turkey....I dont see how patches can work. That is like giving a crackhead some more crack to quit. I can do this....I think

Good luck, (not in an azz way either) this way takes sheer willpower. Very hard, but can be done. The patches wean you off of the nicotine. They work, but not for everyone.

Your body will adjust faster cold turkey. The patches take longer because they reduce the level more slowly. Cold turkey is like coming off of a sugar high. The first 72 hours your body will get over the nicotine. After that it's undoing the bad habit of "lighting up", which will take a bit over three weeks. If you really want to quit, and you can make it one month, you can be smoke free as long as you like.

My dad went cold turkey a few years ago. He kept commenting that food taste better. He could even smell how bad other smokers smelled. He make the decision to just walk away from it, and didn't even have the desire.

The good news for you is that your body has already started healing the damaged tissue that smoking causes in your lungs. In a few weeks you'll get back taste, smell, and better lung capacity.

I just found another great forum http://www.quitnet.com/ it is full of awesome people that just want to help. I posted my problem and had 15 response in 2 minutes. Every single one of them was a "from the heart" response...not just a happy face. I told them about you guys over here as well.

Nope, it is an all or nothing deal.

You have gone this far better stick with it.

New day, new year dont give up...

Go for a run.. seriously.. go run around the block or something, it will cure your desire for a cig (should anyway)
