InfiniteReality's Gen3 Build

Well.... I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. I'd think coincidence, but considering I literally talked to them this morning and they updated me with a mid-May time frame they got from their supplier and I mentioned looking at other brands, maybe they found one or had a return.... Who knows or cares, just find it odd, but stoked titanium is back on and more importantly it's time to get hands dirty (well, as much as you can on a new bike, lol).

Public Shaming works!!!!

Public Shaming works!!!!

Kinda feel like it did!

Header due in Monday so I need to start figuring out when I don't want to ride for a couple of weeks. Install of everything shouldn't take that long, even when working on it after everyone is in bed, but I'm sending my seats off to New Image to get done at same time so will be waiting on them. Bonus is I won't be rushed.

This weekend I have to get the spare nose trim prepped and start skinning it so it'll be ready when the fairings are off so I can install it assuming fitment works out. I haven't decided on gloss or satin clear for the trim, but with stock being satin/matte and I need to satin clear some other parts so will likely see how it looks first.

Made a random clock from stuff laying around the shop....a spare wheel lip, 1/4" ABS, leftover SS bolts and a sprinkle of carbon. I did pay a few bucks to get the lip powdercoated Shocker Yellow. I really just wanted to share my project, but also to point out this is 1/4" chopped carbon. The bike's trim pieces will be 1/2", on smaller items and cleared in satin so that should be less "busy" and more subtle.

Looking at extended chain guards, they're proud of them for a sheet of cut & bent sheet of metal for $125ish on low end.

With chain guards being such a simple design, it will be easy to model in CAD. I'm thinking about 3D printing one and skinning in carbon for strength and looks. If I ever had any chain issues, I believe it would hold up better than a 100% carbon guard, but not as good as a metal one. The bonus of modeling a chain guard, I can filet the edges and make it look more OEM than some metal that someone bent 90deg a few times.

Probably my order. I returned it not 100% what my plan was with my 22. Glad your getting yours!

Now I know who to blame when they leak, haha. Most definitely kidding, I owe you a thanks for returning. They told me yesterday their online in stock quantity on their site is live so I checked it this morning out of curiosity and still shows 0 for CT system so like you said timing was right and indeed did get your return

So can you explain further what’s going on here? Is this a wrap of some sort? I’ve never seen any coating process like this…

Yesterday I forgot to add pics of the titanium header and midpipe, 6.5lb. I haven't weight the muffler yet, but will once I chop the valve off. CT full exhaust is 9.9lbs, unsure how much more it'll weigh with the GSXR1K muffler, guessing my full exhaust will come in under 15lbs total.

Planning on putting the wet coats on this evening on the kitchen island. Anyone want a reaction video of the wife when she comes home? lol

Wet coat 1 and 2 are on. Waited about 90min after first coat to when it tacked up and applied a 2nd coat. I watched the pot life of the epoxy with a heat gun to let it thicken in hopes more would stick to the vertical sides. I also applied peel ply after the 2nd coat to keep epoxy better in place and seemed to work. Appears to possibly be fairly smooth after I sand the peel ply texture off.

Forged carbon looks okay in pictures, but in person or video it's alot more unique as the light refracts off all the individual carbon shards.

While skinning takes time, in reality it doesn't actually take a ton of time. 30min here, 30min there. I'd guess I have 2hrs of actual time invested in this so far from prep to paint to epoxy to wet coats.

When/if I do the rest of the trim, I won't muddy up my thread of process pics. Only sharing these for kicks if anyone is interested in the process. Since I'm trying a few new things, helps me log what I did so can repeat.
