Man, I don't know what I was thinking!! Those da#n things are a real bit$h to install!! Why do they have to make it so freakin hard to swithc out a pipe?

After 4hrs of crawling around on my hands and knees, I finally got it done without hurting the radiator or the oil cooler, but dayum!!

Found that it is a lot easer with the radiator and oil cooler removed, OK the advice is a bit late

Yep me too -----tough job-- had to lift the front end way up so i could drop down the header...but it was worth it.

I remember when I installed my Hindle I felt like I was taking the whole bike apart. I think I removed a lot of parts I didn't have to but I didn't know any different. Good learning experience!!

Oil changes are the B**ch for me. I would almost rather remove the header than try to fit my hands up in there!!(And keep oil off the header!)

if you think trying to install an exhaust is a PITA, you should try installing a turbo header. It'll make that exhaust install look like a breeze.

I know what you mean , I just got mine done not to long ago . Now the next time it should be easyer !

$160 and 2hrs from the time i dropped it off til the time it was ready to ride home...I know I could do it myself, but id rather pay the small service price then lay ont the cold garage floor, now if I had a lift,I think i would enjoy changeing it out.but i cant justify that $800+ purchase....

$80/hr? I am in the wrong business.

No you're not. The tech doesn't get anywhere close to that kinda pay. Almost all of it goes to the shop. I'm a service tech at a chevrolet/cadillac dealer, so I know. . .

The first time takes a bit of work, but after that you can fly through an install. I think mine took maybe an hour or so from start to finish.

Definitely take the radiator and oil cooler off...makes the header flange bolts a breeze to get to.

BusaJules, I hate the oil changing too for a number of different reasons... But my solution to your specific problem is wrapping the headers in aluminum foil. Just lay the pieces over anything needed, and the oil run right over it. When done, use some paper towels over your hands to take the foil sheets off, and voila, no oil on the headers. Hope that may help you. At first I would still sometimes get a couple unwanted drips on things, but now its getting pretty much drip free.
