Is it finally time to use the dreaded D-word? (DEPRESSION)

Term limits are already in place. They're called elections.... Changing the process isn't going to cure voter apathy.
The other two are good starting point for sure.
Unfortunately, the power players are able to stop the process of their own potential elimination, so they do exactly that.

I should expand on term limits. Yes elections can be a term limit, in the context I am talking about it would limit your years of service at the federal level. Already served 12 years as a senator then you can only have 1 term as the president then you limit out at 16 years. This is just an example. It might help limit the dark money power players from buying a person.

But more importantly it could be something that enough "states" agree upon to bring them together for the convention. Something like 85% of people surveyed support term limits in some form.

A key distinction, and one that is another interesting proposition. Service limitations would help break up the ruling class this country has created for itself. Another move in the right direction would be requiring elected officials to be subject to the policies they put in place. Health care for example, I think the discussion takes a very different tone if Congress has to personally live with the results of the decisions they make. It's much harder to be an idealist when the personal risk applies to the consequences.

after the limits are over... they can always become lobbyists and further corrode the process.... 1000s of ways to use influence and power.... this country was bought and sold years ago..... just imagine the dirty deals we will NEVER KNOW about... all these experts and pundits... I just smh.

Can I like this around 1000 times:beerchug:. Not widely know but there was almost a revolt of concessional staffers when the affordable health care act was passed because they were not exempted from the new rules like the legislators were.

No argument on my part. The difficult part is how to limit lobbyists without limiting access by legitimate constituent groups.

To be honest, I don't think any president was the guy for that job, the issues are far more structural than any one person can remedy.
It's gonna take some time but I think we have the best person for the job right now. I have big hopes for the next two years. There's a chance things could be decisively headed back in the right direction 6 years from now. If it's all on track by the time I'm ready to retire in 2035, I guess I will be happy. I'll be secure and my kids will have a much easier row to hoe than I did.

I couldn't disagree more about the right person for the job, but I guess we'll see.

If you think Trump is right for this country then you don't understand the world we live in. I know how to fix this though, sure fire absolute solution:

1. People need to think and stop acting like sheep headed to slaughter. We don't need term limits, we need voters to do their jobs.

2. People need to vote their actual interest, not imaginary interests like race, religion, etc.

3. Look poop up. Stop believing every fairy tale some partisan feeds you. If you get your information from one source, you are a fool.

4. Learn what capitalism, socialism, and communism really mean and understand why none of them exist anywhere today. That way leaders can't keep using them to distract you while they steal you blind.

5. Realize that robots are taking your jobs, not Mexicans. The rich don't need you anymore, any of you white, black, etc..

6. The constitution is still the greatest document on government ever written, we just have to follow it. You have to demand leaders follow it.

7. You've been suckered. The rich have tricked you into believing blacks, Hispanics, Asians, etc. are your enemy while the 1% have been collecting 90% of the wealth of the country. And yes, they have been stealing from whites too.

8. There is only one truth, not a left or right truth. Confusion is a thief's greatest weapon.

9. Our government is not broke, we have jack arses trying to break it. Get rid of them, not the constitution. Remove the rules and our civilization is gone. Allow people to think the rules can be fundamentally changed and the dumb arses you want to term limit will make the new rules. Look at congress and the presidency, which one of those idiots would you want to be the founding father (or mother) of our new nation?

we need a new political party.... THE WORKERS PARTY... looking out for people who earn 30-100K a year...…..

We don't need more parties, we need people in the $30-$100K to find some leadership and stop giving their voting power away to rich corporate interests that distract them from issues critically important to them. There is a good reason for the 2 party system. It forces issues to just 2 sides and an up or down vote. It's critical not to compromise that simplicity.

If you are frustrated, just get people to vote for themselves, not imaginary boogey men. Why on earth would someone making $30-$100K not be for healthcare for all? It is still the number one reason people in this income group file for bankruptcy. There is only one reason to keep the system like it is (or was before the ACA), that's to allow big companies to loot Americans, it just could not be simpler.

The big difference between America when it did work and now is that we used to spend money as a catalyst to growth. Now we just let the rich transfer the national wealth into their pockets and the rest of us are getting nothing for it in return.

Think and vote rationally. That's the key.

Obama SUCKED and didn't change my life at all...…. neither did trump.. neither did bush...….. they all probably play golf together... current parties are entrenched.

If you look at things personally, you won't understand at all. Your personal life is most effected by your actions and reactions to the things that impact your small corner of the world. A president is working on a much larger, general scale. The best thing a President can do is provide stability and predictability. People can adjust their lives to smaller changes. When there is chaos we don't have the resources to survive being jerked around too much.

The world is very complicated. The office of the Presidency requires the very best we have to offer in coolness under pressure, intellect, integrity, and a commitment to the country's ideas.

I got to keep more of my money with trump. Gas prices have been decent and that can make the difference of $100 or more a month for me. With ACA my health insurance has doubled. I have seen it help no one. Everyone I see decides to go with out or go on state insurance.
We might be better if these guys could play golf together. I don’t see Trump playing a round with Bernie or Hillary.

Gas prices fluctuate because they're manipulated artificially. Remember when fracking was all the rage a few years back? The Saudis opened the faucet, gas prices dropped and local production was no longer economically viable. ACA has not been as beneficial to everyone as it should have been, but some people have been working against it from day one. As mentioned above, it is beyond me why anyone that works for someone else things that socialized healthcare is a bad thing....
