Is Romney Really the best you all can do?

I was wondering how all of you right winged orgesters feel about Romney's statements about the "victims" class. I'm sure there are many here who fit into the 47% that he basically said were irrelavant. Also to say publicly that the middle east thing can't be solved is just plain crazy. This guy knows how to actually use the english language but he's as much an empty suit as W was! Why do the Republicans nominate such losers to lead the charge?

Most presidential candidates, as well as most politicians, try to be all things to all people and that just isn’t possible. There will always be some percentage of that “empty suitâ€￾ in anyone who runs for public office. As for my take on Romney’s statement. Romney stated:

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.â€￾

I think he spoke the plain truth, which makes him a stand up guy to me.

This is mostly a matter of leadership failure. Let's say you are a litle kid with a paper route <young republican> and you save up some money and give it to your leaders (parents @ that point) . Now it's time to go to college so you ask your mom for the money. Yes we should make sure only the affluent and well todo have the money to get educated. That will for sure help our country remain leaders...... Oh wait no it won't. I don think I need to start listing what happens when there is an uneducated populace governed by affluent and educated leaders...

I don't see Republicans forcing nearly as much on the public regarding social change, as much as I see progressive liberals trying to force change on socially accepted norms that go back a long way. No prayer before the UT football game?, Smoking pot is now ok? Or a woman defecating on a bible called art? Encouraging sexual promiscuity and turning our young girls into sex objects? FORCING acceptance BY LEGAL ACTION for gays? Whose pushing the limits here again?

You sure come out with the most extreme cases..you said it yourself these norms go back a long way soooo it's time to come into the 21st century..again "no prayer before a game" If you want to pray before a game go right ahead. But the way it is now the prayer becomes a ceremony that every has to participate in or else they make you feel like an outcast. again leave the fairy in the sky out of it. Defacating on a bible extreme but legal. Religion causes nothing but problems. Look what is happening overseas to our embassy over someone making a negative movie about Muslims..again extreme religion. The killing will never stop over this nonsense.... I say support the ARTS in general. The first thing that gets cut in the schools is the Arts. Children who are exposed to the arts like Theatre, Dance, Music, Visual Arts all reach higher academics. as far a pot it's illegal no one said anything about smoking Pot! No one forcing you by legal means to accept Gays. Just to leave them the heck alone and mind your business. Stay out of peoples bedrooms.

How do you know the 47% is wrong? There are millions on welfare today, they are not all Dems either. Also, many people in this country are ignorant when it comes to politics, government, etc. Many simply don't care as long as they get their check from Uncle Sam. If you remember I have posted several times before that I don't believe that the rich should pay more taxes. I'm not sure how many times I need to say that to make it clear. They need to pay the same taxes as does everyone else. All the loops and credits and crap that allow high earners with good tax lawyers to pay less than a minimum wage earner is crap. All people should be paying the same amount. It's called equality. Hiding money in a off shores acount so you don't have to pay the rightful tax on it is bs. I dont believe in feel good politics I believe in doing what is fair. It's not fair to have the wealthiest of the population paying less than the average. I don't believe in the poor and middle classes not pulling their weight.

Wouldn't it be nice if they could write these bill in under 100pages? I cant argue with how convoluted the frank/Dodd bill is. Or any bill for that matter. If they stream lined the bills though they wouldn't be able to hide their pet projects and pay raises though.

I was using some extreme examples because it's the extremes that it seems do have gotten to these days.

So, wait, are you saying that the school should ban the prayer tradition that's gone on ever since UT had a Football game, because it made someone UNCOMFORTABLE? The real problem is that everyone has become so self-important that they feel THEY are entitled to something special. If you don't want to pray, fine, just be respectful and don't laugh/talk and play your boombox during it - yet, the Athiests (who don't BELIEVE in a God) are offended by something they DON'T EVEN BELIEVE IN in and therefore nobody else should be able to do it?
