January 6 was not a protest. It was, at best, a riot but more properly an attempted coup.

I used to see this sort of thing with people who had some sort of power-ego.....they had to get some sort of authority trip to feel powerful.....and exhume some sort of superiority over someone else...
I had a friend who was getting an exterior renovation done and his nosey neighbor was over acting like an inspector....asking questions like "why are they doing it that way" and so forth....my friend eventually told him that if he wanted to come over and look at what's going on that's ok but if he insists on asking stupid questions, stay home. It did help that my friend was one of those "mountains with feet." a very gentle giant until you riled him up.
Media has an agenda.....and work off ratings..
It shouldn't be so, they should all be independent and have those old crusty reporters of yesteryear who call a spade a spade and hold no punches.
I watch various media outlets just so I know a little bit about what's happening outside my door but am objective as to what the media is saying...
Sure. Joke about it if you want. We know if it had been a group of white people beating a black woman you’d be right here asking ‘what’s wrong with YOU people’. But this was cause for a joke to you. Keep showing your bias.

Protest/riot. Glad you wish to have some distinction here. It's another way they downplay reality. Riots=Protest when the left reports it. Any "rioters" we're all Right Wing staged activities.

Jan 6th was an insurrection, not a riot or a protest...they fought their way into the capital with a specific purpose.
The guy with Bison hat painted out to be an insurrectionist looking for trouble and violence was released a week or so ago after Tucker showed nine minutes of him walking around with two cops helping him, opening doors for him and they all passed six other cops who he said ‘hey’ to.
Nobody did anything. In fact the full video only recently released showed people strolling around staying inside the roped walkways and even picking stuff up. They broke in, it was crazy but not an insurrection. Never seen one where nobody had any guns?
See it as you like....it was what it was....an attack on your democracy....all it was missing was guns, that would have been a real kick if they were involved...
What about the 100 some-odd cops that were injured or the one that had his head crushed in the door while they stripped off his gear...
Americans should be concerned that this can happen in the capital building instead of supporting and encouraging it.

I think by YOU people Arch meant people that want police but not enforcement, that want rights until it’s somebody else’s, that don’t really care about people in need because they must be weak.
Far as I and cnn are concerned it was a mostly peaceful protest.

There seems to be more and more of this sort of senseless violence.... Even here in Canada where not too long ago a gang of girls put a beat down on a homeless person, or a gang of thugs beating people on public transit....I always ask.....where are these people's parents?
I will say there has been countless documented cases of this sort of violence going back many years....the days when they were called "greasers and hoods" going around making life miserable for people around them....
The "Death Wish" movies may have been fictitious but incidents like that probably really happened.
Riots always start off as a protest...
Often these protests are infiltrated by bad actors or subversive groups who wish to cause mayhem and push their own agenda....
Many times these protests are balked at but in many cases they have a just beginning and in most cases they are planned and are given a permit to do so.
