It just doesn't stop

Modern society has many more challenges and obstacles than it did just a few decades ago. The fact that the cost of living has risen considerably is putting a strain on the resource of time for the middle class... and without sufficient time raising kids properly and coupled with the influences of the social media playing a big part in changing attitudes with our youth, we have reached a tipping point we may not roll back anytime soon.

The constant downloading ( absorption) of repeated messages that in certain ways removes the innocence of youth has become very apparent in recent years.
I get to wonder if the cost of living verses earing dollar has risen that much...I recall not getting paid a whole lot as a young man yet I had all the same bills to pay....

Was just out sitting in our gazebo and could hear a very high revving sport bike going down the country road within sight of my back yard....that road is a 50 km/hr zone and this bike was going much faster than that...

The guy must have been riding some sort of circuit because I could hear it turn onto the main road and a few minutes later heard and saw it going down the country road again...it repeated this a few times. I got out my binos and saw the rider dressed in a muscle shirt (minus muscles), shorts, no gloves and a helmet. I estimated his speed to be north of 180kms/hr.

This county road has almost all the obstacles one would encounter...people walking with or without dogs, farm/construction machinery, lots of driveways along it with questionable elderly and young drivers, pot holes, sand/gravel and it's pretty narrow....anyone who rides like this on that road has a death wish...

After hearing this high revving screaming, I can understand why the regular people are getting fed up with motorcycles-specifically sport bikes ....

I also noted a couple patrol vehicles showed up and parked themselves along the road...the rider must have got wind of this and stopped either that or he whacked a car somewhere...

We are all Ambassador's of the motorcycling contingent. Everywhere we ride in traffic other drivers are observing our driving habits and behavior.

People in our area have been known to show up at city council meetings and complain about loud motorcycles and those that blow past the posted speed limits in traffic like you see on You Tube videos... like Ghost Rider use to do.

I know when I was younger and riding my 1st motorcycle I didn't set a real good example for other riders. One time I got 4 speeding tickets in 6 weeks... it seemed like every time I looked behind me a cop was giving me the finger signal to come and see him after he had already lit me up... I was looking just to make sure it was me he was stopping... lol ! yeah, sure, right...

If motorcyclist don't know the value of riding safely and according to conditions then wearing gear isn't going to make a lot of sense either...

I pick places to enjoy the power when the danger factor is relatively low and traffic is either light or non existent.

In 1969 when I got my 1st car gas was 29.9 cents a gallon at the cheap gas station. Gas at Costco ( about as cheap as it gets around here except for a few casino gas stations ) has regular at $4.54 and $4.96 a gallon. About a 1500 % price increase from 54 years ago. What was the price of gas when you started driving as compared to now? Its really hard to compare the percentage increases because incomes vary based on skill sets and acquired knowledge from school and work experience as compared to when you were first employed when you were buying your own gas.

I forget how much gas was a gallon here but I am thinking around $1.50 or so....but in those days minimum wage was $3.00/hr where as now minimum wage is $15.50/hr...

So I figure the cost of living is parallel to today...I do know we lived within our means, today the younger crowd want it all right now....boats, big trucks, fancy cars, motorcycles, side by side ATVs, etc.....I know I couldn't afford such toys when I was young in my career...

Younger people these days seem to be up to their ears in debt-most of it self imposed.

I'm the same way, I guess age and experience goes a long way....I have certain places where I can go to "play" on the bike where I would bother nobody....when I am in a subdivision or around built up areas, I ride cautiously and quietly to draw no attention to myself....

I find it's not just sport bikes that are the most annoyance but metric/HDs and these fart can tuner cars......the latter being a real nuisance....I really dislike those.

Some places in Canada have enacted a DB threshold and have empowered police to ticket and confiscate the worst offenders...some people were outraged by this (most the owners of the offending vehicles) but the majority of citizens welcome the enforcement.

More attacks on soft targets once again demonstrating the need to protect our most valuable asset…….the kids. Evil exists worldwide. It knows no bounds.

Absoloutely Horrible.
How does anyone kill children?
Shootings are bad enough too...but this...
I know it's nothing new, but still so very sad.

It takes a really messed up person to kill a child. I guess even more messed up to hack them up or burn them to death. But in the end you’re still killing kids which makes no sense to any of us.

Exploiting kids for sex is just as disgusting. Just execute the pieces of garbage.

To Bee's point however. Sometimes in time of war some kids had to be taken out in order to save the lives of others.

I have a retired military buddy. Whose son joined up to do his duty. He was a gunner on a I think a Humvee or something similar. He came home damaged. He had to cut a kid in half with a turret 50 cal.

The kid had an IED on him.

You don't get over that!

He had a son at home the age of the kid he took out.

Never an easy thing to do but sometimes it has to be done to save others...

The times I was privy to some of the worst was in the Balkans....ethnic cleansing is not a pretty sight...

And Kentucky doesn’t even have a law protecting these kids!

We do here but it is rarely used. It is a totally preventable tragedy and I agree there should be some form of punishment to the parents or adults who let these things happen. At the very least they should be banned from ever being able to purchase guns again.
But in most cases as it is here the usual statement is given from police ‘while there are laws they could be charged with the loss of a child is punishment enough’. It’s kinda rare when they do actually charge adults here in Florida for allowing something like this to happen.

I just watched a meme my buddy sent me where a panel was discussing that if Mike Tyson identified as a female, should he be allowed t participate in female boxing....

The meme went on to a dialogue by a female boxer saying there is only one lady standing between her and the championship belt.....the camera showed the back of a head of a lady who turned around and it was Mike Tyson.....the female boxer giving the dialogue got really big surprised eyes as well as her manager....

That meme put it in perspective......

I think we, or most of us, agree that transgender athletes should compete against others of their biological sex at birth. What Zerks’ inconsiderate meme implies is that transgender people feel any different on those two days than any other day. A transgender acquaintance of mine told me they can’t begin to figure out how to change how they feel, and trying to imagine if someone told me to feel like and be a woman, I can sympathize. It caused me to research it. Turns out there’s much more than plain X and Y chromosomes at work, and it’s been scientifically proven. It’s not common but definitely true; gender identity and sex are not one and the same. It’s not psychological, it’s physiological.

Never the less…..they may feel like a woman but will forever still be a man. That’s the problem people like me have with all of it. I don’t care if men want to wear dresses and call themselves Lilly. I do care when they want me to play along with their fantasy and actually consider them a woman. I’m way past tired of the media referring to HIMs as her and she. Everyone needs to stop the fantasizing. Let them play whatever game they want in their own minds and lives just stop encouraging it and playing along.

That’s my point Blanca, it’s not a game or a fantasy to transgenders. It’s reality. It’s life. Transgender people want friends and haves hopes just like everyone else. With my friend, the identity thing never even came up until I asked so our friendship is just like any other friendship I have. Gender is not at all the topic. Just two people hanging out sharing stories etc.
