Like I said, this could open up the possibility for discrimination for those who are bigoted or racist........once you fling open the door, anything can go......he should have taken the time to re-work the policy to better to make it a better fit....

Of course however, I'm just spit-balling about illegals.......some of whom are getting the job done each and every day......

I've never been anti immigrant. Make them legal, give them their IDs collect their taxes and let them participate like the rest of us.

We have work Visa set up for that The H2-A Visa is for agriculture harvest workers.

We also have Visas for temporary work Visas. H2-B.

If they are here long term and working, and undocumented, it's illegal. Why would anyone wish to be here long term and not wish to be here legally? They have to live essentially underground . They can't vote, drive, travel. Have bank accounts. They are at the mercy of exploitive employers.

Exactly....the US government can find these people and evaluate them instead of punting them......afterall they are doing a specific function the average US citizen won't do...why waste their skills when you can get them to work and make them legal to do so?

We seem to be apart on this subject either that or I'm not clear in my position.....

If they are already in the US, living , functioning as a member of society and a workforce, raising a family and not committing crimes (other than being there), then why not just fast track them and make them a citizen?

If they are already here and living then that means they didn't respect our country's border when they came here. They knew it was illegal to enter our country with out going through the immigration system we already have set up.

How is is they are working without a USA social security number? If they have a SS #.... whose name is it attached to? Or is it 9 numbers that somebody made up and put on a false SS card that are sold to them from various sources not involved with our SS system?

Staying here for decades and putting down roots means they are taking a big chance of throwing away what they have spent years doing and aquiring.

How many countries around the world allow people to come and live without legally processing in?

These are all good questions....but it still doesn't make my idea totally insane....

I'd say some of your farmers are complicit with enabling them.....

That being said, if they are doing what I described...what is the issue with just getting them legal and letting them carry on with the work that nobody else is doing?
