Yeah, the weather has been absolutely crappy here lately.........

Brown is right, we have a bunch of cool guys here, most don't have a lot of experience. The track isn't the best on Friday's, but it will work. Our local hotshoe, Hoot, has everyone asking him to ride their bikes. He's gone as quick as a 6.0 something @ 120+ on his stock armed busa.

Let us know when you are coming down!

I just heard that the dragstrip is paving from the concrete all the way past the finish line up to the first turn off starting on the 9th and will be back open by that weekend!

Nice smooth track now!!!!!

him, without reading the post your talkin about, I'd guess they were telling a first-timer to launch using a typical red-light teknique.

I have done this before on really bad traction days. not bad 60' times I might add. You utilise more of the torque.

-------

If you have an opportunity to go when you can get alot of passes in, I'd recommend:

try 3 launches from idle
try 3 launches from 3k
try 3 launches from 5k

see what fits you and makes YOU feel comfortable.

like streaker said, just get out there and get lots of seat time... practice X1000

ill do the idle and 3k launches but i aint fuggin with 5k anymore

. Ok bro i'll be down friday.

I'd say the people running fast launching at idle have changed their sprockets so they don't bog. I tried launching at 4K and slipping and it just drug it down, couldn't keep the Rs up. Now I start at 6500 and slip it hard and it's about right for me. BTW, that 60' looks really good, are you power shifting? My best 60' is a 1.80 that led to a 10.18 @ 138.16.

Yeah ill ride down hopefully motorhead sends my slave support so i can throw this clutch mod in before i come down.

As for the time yeah i power shift and thats what pisses me off it seems like i dont have any top end. Like i was racking my buddy when i ran teh 1.69 and he started catching me at the end. I dont know what could be wrong. I hoping its my chain since its so old but time will tell

. Other than that i dont know what im doing wrong

im about 165 hp. Mph in the 1/8th is about 107 and mph in the quater is 135.

. Guy told me i was perfect jockey weight

Wow! OK, your 1/8 mile mph is way low, then you aren't doing too bad on the top end. Here's my best slip for comparison...I'd be interested in seeing your 1/8 & 330' times. I weigh about 150-155.

1.83 60'
4.56 330'
6.76 1/8
112.4 1/8 mph
8.66 1000'
127.0 1000 mph
10.18 1/4
138.2 1/4 mph

Yea him, there's a guy at my local 1/8mi track that leaves from idle but, he's got a big motor. Don't know what his 60ft times are but he usually runs 6.0-6.05 in a wheelie. He's a dam good ryda. I "had" a big motor zx12 that I did consistant 1.50 60fts on but, i left at 4k rpm slipping the clutch.
I'm watching alot of your post because in a few months(after i get my bike set up) I'll be walking the same path as you are going down now. I hope to learn alot front you and the rest of the guys here.

ill get my 330 times when i go home for lunch to pick up my bike.

Henry its fun but its damn frustrating when youre supposed to be running certain times and your not.

Don't get frustrated, just takes lots of seat time. Heck, you've got the 60' figured out, that's the hard part. Now if you can just find what is the matter with your bike, or what little thing you are doing wrong, your times will be pretty dang good. I need tons of seat time...mines all in the 60s.

Cobra, I'm with you. I seem to have the most trouble launching. ludicrous said I need to get on it harder earlier, I guess I'm afraid of flipping her. I'll keep trying. I need a different clutch set up, mine functions like an on/off switch. Hopefully I'll sell my Blazer soon and have a little money to apply to mods. I LOVE going to the track, it's fun as hell, even if it's a little frustrating.

comparing our slips i would have got you out the gate but you would have caught me by the 1/8th

rt. .440
60' 1.693
330 4.488
1/8 6.779
mph 106.73
1000 8.732
1/4 10.413
134.24

Is there something wrong with my bike?

Well, your 60' is good, but it seems like you lost some from the 60' all the way to the 1/8, then you started pulling again. I'd concentrate on your 330' numbers. Do you wheelie at all? Maybe lots of tire spin? What's your technique for shifting from 1st to 2nd?

on that one i did the clutch less shift. the thing with this runs is i knew i was in the 9s when i left the line bik felt great no wheelie thing was i got a very small bit of tire spin but that was it, it felt great. on this one i started at 4k threw out the clutch and pinned the throttle and it went like a dream

Him, where are you shifting at ? This problem could be within your shift points. Are you bumping the rev limiter at all ?
