Lets go deep!

Christopher cols days of the world is flat and found to be round; Whats on the other side of SPACE? Do you end up where you started?

When we see a comet what's propelling it to move so fast yet it never seems to end cause they end up coming back around in so many 100 years? did they GO ALL THE WAY AROUND SPACE AND BACK?

Hmmm

Then again maybe not.

Astronomers were able to estimate from this Hubble Deep Field South image in visible and infrared light that there are 125 billion galaxies above and beyond Earth's southern sky

The areas of space devoid of normal matter (ie. things made up of atoms) is made up of dark energy and dark matter (the two of which make up the majority of space). The human grasp of physics is still in its infantile stages and scientists and hayabusa.org board members are not yet able to eludidate the composition of the great voids. Lots of theories exist mostly dependent on gravitational forces to explain things but still there is no straight forward answer. Read The Elegant Universe or Six Degrees, these are excellent books written in mainly laymen terms. Particle Physics is the latest and greatest branch trying to come about a Grand Unified Theory which will hope to explain everything and make things fit, etc.. Problem is, as is with any scientific discipline, once you answer a question hundred more arise within the answer just arrived at. Atoms were thought to be the smallest building blocks in nature, then we discovered electrons, neutrons, then we smashed the nucleus of atoms to pieces in accelerators and found there were even smaller pieces which costituted the nucleus. Its like layers of an onion with an infinite smallness. So, maybe the empty parts of space is made up parts of atoms which are infinantly small so that we are just not advanced enough to detect?

that's pretty sweet, creekboy, lets you see much more than we would normally - EVER - in our lifetime, a very unique perspective. *I* see intelligent design at both ends of that video. many others will see random accidental alignment and existance caused by a large pointless bang.

I beleive ONE valid answer to my unanswerable question is: why am I wasting valuable mental power trying to discovering answers to the unanswerable, when I could be out living. I dunno..... because it's there?

To argue either creationism, or big bang as fact is silly. There is so much we are not capable of comprehending, it's staggering. Nobody that claims to "know" the answers is lying, all we can do is believe. Once people realize that we are not the omniscient beings we pretend to be, life is easier. The only thing I "know" about space, God and how we came to be, is that I don't know.
I don't consider it to be a waste of mental power per se, if no one thought about things like that the world would be a boring place....
