My first oil change

Not to sure if I over tightening the oil pan screw I put the torque wrench to it but I felt it almost getting loser before I got it to the right torque.
Is it me or does that not sound good?

Hand tight on oil plug....

Uh, yeah, it sounds like you stripped it.
Sounds like what I thought...

also, when removing the fairings, just go slow and "unsnap" the upper inner fairing and slowly work the inside front of the fairing around the horn. It's not difficult, just take your time and be careful, you shouldn't have any problem.

good luck, and let us know how it goes.

why're you guys doing all that work?
the 3 busa's i've had, all ya gotta do is remove fairing screws on the front bottom (right behind front tire) and adjacent to that.
just enough so the filters can pass thru the bottom.
why make things even harder?

That stripped oil pan plug sucks.. Hope you can get it fixed without to much $$. Even so, I rode my bike in to pick up a part today, and over heard the service guy telling a customer that an oil change w/ filter would cost $82 bucks.. YIKES!! You can buy a case of oil, a rear stand, and filters for the cost of 2 dealer oil changes...

Every thread about oil change instructions starts and ends this way.

Torque wrench
Torque wrench
Torque wrench
I used one went step by step with the manual as well as a walk through from the board. I really just think I overtightened it with the torque wrench. Is it possible to JB weld until next oil change. I have read a bunch of threads and am considering one of the following options.

Hope its just the washer (haha)
heli-coil
self tapping plug

Anyone have ever used any of these options? Which seems like the best option or are all of them short term fixes to what could be a long term problem if not fixed properly.

I did a helicoil on an oil cooling line flange into the block. Right next to oil filter. Heli coil = never stripping out again.

Whew lucked out on this one. I went to the store adn thought I will start small so I bought some more oil and a new 1x plug. Got home and took the plug out it looked stripped but now awful. My neighbor across the street is a machinest by trade. I had him look at it he said give me another washer and I think it will go. Sure enough I just needed a thicker washer and had not done too much damage. woohoo I am so glad I thought I had screwed the pooch for sure.
