It seems like Laguna and Vegas were the big draws this year. Everyone says that they still want to do Laguna at least one more year.

Not to open a can of worms, but if anyone had any interesting fundraising ideas designed to help offset the expense of getting (far away) members to Laguna next year, I would be willing to participate. It was really good to meet Jetset, BACharles, Jester, Jwfcb (or whatever it is), etc. I would love to see more people make the trip next year.

Not to be dumb (blonde), but didn't everyone foot their own bill last time around...sort of a vacation for those that traveled far?

How did everyone work this out last year? I'd love to make the trip...send day care and I just might! :)

Yes everyone did foot their own bill last time. For me, it was easy. I just took two days and road down. If I trailer, it could be done in one day.

However, I recognize what a chore it must have been for Jim, Jester and BA to make it all the way out there. And lets talk about expensive...Chicago paid $1,000 to ship his bike round trip, plus airfair to fly out here. He said it was well worth it, and he WILL do it again next year. Jetset flew out from the East coast and then rented a Gold Wing for a week. Swan and Bog took 3-4 days to ride down from Vancouver, Canada. But a lot of people just won't have that kind of money and time.

My point is that I would be willing to support any activity that would help bring MORE of us together next year.

I agree Greg...I wasn't arguing with you; just wondering how it worked out last year for those that travelled far...

Hubby rode his Harley all the way to Sturgis in 2 days...think I can make it all the way to Cali on my Busa? I won't go unless I can ride Caesar there! Either way, it's good that you west coasters are trying to get more people out there! I hope I can make it sometime...

:)

We are cool...didn't think you were arguing with me. As much as I want to meet you and ride with you...that is a long way to ride...specially when you know that you are going to ride a lot once you get there.

It is not only the long ride, but time. You can figure 500-600 miles a day is about the maximum you want to do. At 600 miles/day, it will take you 5 days to get there, 3-4 days there, and 5 days to get home. So you are talking about 3 weeks.

I would advise putting the bike on a trailer or truck. That way, you can make it in 2-3 days. Or, ship it like my buddy did. Don't worry about the fun of riding. Lobusa has lots of riding just waiting for you once you make it there.

so are there any dates picked? any places selected?

Are there some members doing the planning/prep work? How about sponsors and goodies?

Just thinking outloud but I'm all for NC/TN area....lots of nice riding up in hills here...Could setup something for the Pigeon Forge TN area? Kinda like the Myrtle Beach of the mountains ;)

If I look at the poll it say Smokies Blue ridge. i am game for that. i just trailered the Busa there. It is about 830 miles one way. I am game for other areas also. Cali i would ship the bike, mid-west I would trailer the bike. Need to make sure the weather is real good ,so that means June or July. Let's go for it.

Unfortunately, this poll was started a long time ago, so not sure if this is still the way people feel. But if it is, someone from out east needs to step up and take the lead. Pick a spot, pick a date or event and start talking it up.

If we do the Laguna thing again next year, the structure is in place. We have an event, a location, hotels to choose from, and someone (local) to coordinate some activities. If we truly want to go east next year, I am in, but someone will need to take the helm soon.

Summer Time in the South?:super: Hey Folks, Colorado, only way to go. Sorta Central, Thousands of miles of sweet Mountain roads, Might be Hot in Denver but it will be beautiful in the Mountains. Clean Air, Friendly (Non Southern) :D LEO's. Some of the best backroads going. If it's raining wait a few minutes, if it's hot wait till evening. Not Many Bugs, Camping is a real option.

Hey, We could all stay at my Mom's House!!!! :D

It will happen at Laguna Seca again next year unless someone steps up and works to organize something else. It is a lot of work...promoting and logistics.

Another nice place with lots of winding roads, cool sights, and campgrounds is the Ozarks in southern Missouri.. I rode my Ninja 500 up to St.Louis and back last month and I wish I had more time up there. Camped at Meramec state park right on the river.. the caverns (Jesse James' home) is just a few miles away from that site.
si.

..And yes my butt was sore for a week after getting there, and getting back.. 1300 miles in two days each way tells me my little bike ain't made for touring.

I think the best working concept for a national Hayabusa.org get-together is best served by alternating where you have it each year. For instance, one year have it on the west coast, the next on the east coast, and the next in the mid-west or central USA. This is the fairest way for all of us. There is no way I can make it to CA, but I could do a central USA meet one year and certainly an east coast meet. What Thinker said makes a lot of sense too. We need for someone to organize the meet for each region (east, west, or central) and coordinate the meeting date. But, as was said before, if no one steps up to the plate then the events will just be held in CA. Just my .02.

i agree with postal... this year at Laguna people came from all over to this event. that was cool. i am willing to travel to other locations for a .ORG event.

Yup, its easy to have opinions, but when it comes down to it,most of us would rather watch the show.
