Needing to vent - Lockdown again (apologies to all)

Bitchute is an online video hosting website for independent content creators. It uses a very similar model to YouTube, just without the harsh censorship.
I've noticed Youtube has become boring as hell in the last couple years. There used to be some crazy sh!t on youtube....not all of which was very healthy to watch, maybe. It was there though and it was uncensored. You could choose to view or not but now it;s just boring. I mostly watch clips of teh Sopranos and Breaking Bad. There's not a whole lot else that interests me. I think some of the harsher stuff I watched on Youtube in the past made an indelible mark on my psyche and I chose to avoid it fpr the most part but now I don't have that choice.

regarding lockdowns, I heard "a lot" of students were sent home today. Lots of people are sniffling with something. I believe the majority of it isn't Covid but evidentally some students are testing positive. We check them right at school. Positive, they're gone for two weeks or until they test negative. I have a hunch there could be school closings again. Honestly, I feel for all of you that hate(d) the lockdowns but personally, I loved it. I'm happy to keep going to work but if school closes again, I'm completely ok with doing remote education again. I actually DID work the last time. Must say, I will likely do some job hunting if it happens again. Not because I'm underhanded and disloyal, I feel my school doesn't appreciate me. Lots of teachers jumped ship last time but it never even crossed my mind. Opportunity only knocks once. Some people don't get that, that's their problem as I see it. You gotta take care of yourself first.

My kids decided they wanted to go back to in person this year but I told them if it gets shut down once then they are gonna go back to online. I didn't mind the lockdown myself out was nice not having a bunch of people on the roads and I worked for most of it. I think it was actually good for my oldest son because he went from c&d's to all a's for his last year and a half.

It's a small school here. Last word I heard was we have two cases and a total of 21 students who will have to quarantine. Eight of those students are in my classes. One is in my class twice a day and she was in three times on Friday to help with the kindergarteners. Somehow, I'm not supposed to quarantine but all those students are. Go figure. Sounds like a bunch of politics to me. I feel fine but it doesn't matter if I might have been infected because I'm a essential worker. I still haven't been vaccinated and I never have even been tested. I just wear a mask. I'm ready to go back to 100% online education. I see it coming. It works for some students but not for all.

So I have a tenant and a rear adjoining neighbor who are both educators.

Tenant is specialized math at high school level, and neighbor is Anatomy professor at an Associate level PT school.

Both taught remotely all year last year.

This semester tenant went back to classroom. 8 students positive. She has never been told to quarantine. They aren't mask mandated.

Neighbor was mask mandated. She tested positive for Covid as did 6 students in her campus.

She had her contract terminated and had to go find a job back in patient care. School (smaller university) just simply said they couldn't find budget to continue.

Tenant says she is retiring after this semester ends.

That online schooling sure doesn't work here...our grand daughter was over last school year during her online sessions and she learned the square root of nothing.....it was a total waste of time.

My neighbors are teachers and the husband teaches high school, those kids could care less about school especially on line. He's had a few who log in then goo to work...he reaches out to the parents who say the guy is 17, what can I do? If that kid had to be in an actual classroom, he might have a chance for his future.

Even universities here aren't even looking at the past 2 transcripts as they know on line schooling is not good.

It's a sad thing all around...II feel for the kids having to struggle for their futures.

But, that being said, if school stays in session until Christmas, I'll be really surprised.

We're now approaching 230 days lockdown
With both parents stuck at home with the kids, most people I talk to have given up trying to juggle their work, baby sitting, getting the kids into home schooling, trying to manage everything.

Most that i know or talk to have given up on trying to force the kids into home schooling.
They're just over the fighting and the continual trying to keep the kids interested.

I really worry about what the foreseeable future will hold for the kids trying to work through their education at the moment.

It's not going to be pretty, the fall out from this pandemic will be far reaching, my grandkids kids will be paying for this.

In the hoax thread and vaccine threads, there is lots of talk...in reality, there is no way in any way. shape or form that any government would commit political suicide to impose restrictions such as these unless it was absolutely necessary. Oz went to the extreme and hopefully that gamble pays off...

I had a kid who would attend online classes by phone because he "didn't have internet access at home." He'd put his phone down and go to work. You could hear the impact wrenches spinning in the background. He would answer eventually if I yelled his name enough times. Oh well, in this kid's particular case, I'm certain he was learning a lot more at his job than he would have at school. One good thing I've done in the last three years is to encourage him to finish high school and graduate. Then I think he should enter some kind college level auto mechanics program. That would be a great learning environment for him.

So universities are basing acceptance of students on their performance as 14 and 15 year olds!! I guess, what else can they do?

I will be surprised if school stays open past Christmas too. I thought we had a chance but it's week two and quarantines are already happening.

Wow man! Way to encourage teachers to cover up the snot running out of their noses with a mask and not tell anyone they have Covid.

yep.

yep.

The best we can hope for is that the school closings have a similar effect the world over so at least we have a uniform dumbing down of all nations. Learning should be a lifelong thing so everyone could catch up. However, the advantages of learning as a young person are unique to being young. Once a person matures, they don't really have those advantages anymore.

It is absolutely.Necessary for what though?

Don't really know, not in my pay grade to speculate...

We elect them to do what they do and hope it is the right thing...otherwise, we'd be doing it for ourselves I guess and we'd end up having a million or more ideas as to what we should be doing...and nothing getting done.

UK Government is to downgrade the special emergency measures from this week.
Halleh effing lulah

Sky news: But Mr Johnson is likely to repeal Coronavirus Act powers in England that are deemed no longer necessary, including:

• Powers to close down the economy

• Powers to impose restrictions on events and gatherings

• Powers to temporarily close or restrict access to schools

• Powers to detain infectious people.

Powers to detain infectious people?Thats an interesting one.
If what that really means is power to detain people that are not vaccinated for example then that would imply that the vaxxed apparently can’t spread or receive it?Which they can.
Also if it means an infectious person is one that WONT wear a mask it is also interesting.NOWHERE did it say in any of these ‘guidelines’ on hoax 19 that if you wear a face covering you NEED NOT ‘socially distance’.They had to say this as masks aren’t worth a fook. And they know people know this.Yet they don’t ‘enforce’ ‘socially distancing’ anywhere really. But people(idiots) seem to have forgotten that these masks ‘apparently’ reduce transmission by about 20%(apparently......probably 0) so you see people(the ones in fear) not ‘socially distancing’ but wearing masks.
But Thats ok
