hey guys,i just got a 2004 busa stock its my 7'th bike.my last bike was a 99 cbr600f4,when i first rode the busa i was like ok fast but nothing mind blowing,i almost creid {really}i love it and everthing the best bike i ever owned it's just that people were like becareful it really fast and i was a little dissapointed thats all {i only weigh 152 lbs.}. anyway the reason why i'm really really pissed is todat was out riding and a guy on a older gixxer 750 and me start to race from a slow roll of 5-10 mph,he freaking keep up with me side by side the whole time.WHAT GIVES.he had a pipe is all i saw old ugly bike really looked in bad shape too,i don't know what else he had on it if anything to embarrsed to ask, granted we were on a small highway with cars but i still got on it pretty good maybe 9000 rpm for a couple of gears up t0 maybe 115 but then ran out of room. all im saying is that i thought this bike was a god,and i coundn't walk and older 750..WHAT GIVES

The bike is really only about 60-75% responsible for winning any race! Ultimately the rider is the biggest factor.... Lots of things come to mind. If your bike didn't really leave an impression on your mind after the first time you rode it I'm afraid your not giving it all shes got, capt! Next, street racing not recommended.... Paint and stickers mean nothing. Who really knows what the guy your rolled with really had other than him! I would spend some hard hours in the saddle practicing the launch/roll with your new bike! 9000 RPM isn't really gettintg on it! When you get all this put together I promise you that MOST bikes labeled 750 will only be seen in your rearview mirror.

At the risk of being flamed, I would say this:

Did you know that you can twist the right handle a little further?

No ofense man, but that is a very subjective question. It sounds as if you are saying: "Hey I got spanked in my busa, this bike sucks"; or something like that.
Many things come into action to affect the outcome of what you are describing. People here may point to rider skills, bike mods, etc.
Get a grip, enjoy the bike and if you do not like it, return it then and get your honda.

1st, sounds like you never got past 3rd gear. 2nd. A really old and ugly GSXR 750? Sounds like a sleeper to me. I agree with KS - rider is gonna make the biggest difference in any throw down....

i agree but we were in tight traffic ater about 8 seconds and i couldn't really open her up,i agree tha guys gixxer was totally moded i didnt even know what it was had to ask him.and your right i could tell he was in high rpm range and i wasn;t all the way,but still it pised me off that he even keeped up with me i me come on granted who knows what he had but i know a 750 has about 120 hp at the most. P.S. i love my busa

I would like to add this. Our wonderful machines are kittens 0-5500 rpms, 5501 to 8000 they are lions, above 8000 in any of the first 4 gears and these things are demons. Please don't underestimate these bikes or, despite the fact this is your 7th bike, it very well could be your last.

As an example, I know a guy with a 1K motor on a 750 frame. So heavily moded could mean HEAVILY MODED, ya know?

Why are you complaining about then? tight traffic, suspected modified GIXXer, failed to get on it, etc, etc, etc

sounds again as if you should take your bike to the track and test it there.
No traffic, you'll likely know what your opponent is riding on and overall

NO EXCUSES!!!!

not to be an ass i love my busa my whole riding life{about 10 years}i like everyone else always was like WOW a busa its just now that i have one i've taken it out on and open highway and have had it fully open, and i just think it was a lil over hyped thats all just my opion.

what i'm trying to say is that people sat to me when i pull around other bikers litter bike's that is they are like dam i heard that bike is nasty and i'm afraid when we take off they will be like thats it i can keep up with that.when i was riding my 600 all i was told was how nothing could keep the busa in sight,so i had my hopes built up to much thats all. but i do love this bike, evertime i pull up somewhere people are like dam theirs a busa and i LOVE IT...

Not trying to be an ass (although I might sound like one) so my apologies if you were offended.

My point is, that for a person that has been riding 10 years, this topic is not appropriate. Your initial question sounded like you had never ridden a bike before and had just heard rumors about it. With all the information is there to find about all types of motorcycles, whith the busa probably being the one that has had more stuff written about in the last 7yrs or so I find hard to believe that you can sound so naive.

Anyways, to each its own. Like I said, enjoy the bike and ride safe, leave the racing for the track.

Roll on from 1st gear about 40 -50 mph and you will leave almost every bike. My buddy has a zx-10 and from lower speeds I got the advantage, if we started at 70 -80 he got the edge. Stock for stock the Busa is still pretty impressive. You have to nail that biatch though.

dude, i dont know u from Adam, but i can say this with utmost certainty- you were not using you Busa at even 50% of its ability-I dont care if that guy had Gixxer 1K motor w/heavy mods, you shoulda still walked his azz.
I've spanked ZX-12s, R-1s, 929s, brand-new 1000RRs, an '06 R-1 n 999R at the same time...yeah i have a few mods, but i was always ridn freeway n there was always traffic-your supposed to go around it, not slow down n git scurred. If the cars make u nervous, get that thing on the track, and try lockin the right grip down in the first three gears-by then you shud be thru the traps.
if you still arent impressed n getn good numbers-sell it n go buy a Vespa.

Even if the dude had a stroked out 1100 motor all you needed to do is downshift and hammer the throttle til the redline, doubt you would be able to keep the front end down doing it aggresively enough..
