No Re-mapping needed for 08 Busa???

I was under the understanding that now the 2nd gen comes equiped with O2 sensor there was no need for a power commander. The ecu will keep fuel/air mixture at an optimum combination with any mod or at any altitude. The power comander is only 2 dimensional (ecu being 3 dimensional)and can only set fuel delivery to different throttle positions which is great if you spend most of your riding time at the same altitude as your tuners shop. Only take this as a grain of salt, I don't know a thing about tuning a bike!! This is how I understood some garage talk!
Can't wait to here the real tuners chime in so I can fully understand!

Well, Yosh states that with thier pipe you don't need a PC, and from what I'm hearing from the rest of the group, it's all good. I'm putting my R-77 on today with a Piper cross race filter an no PC.

I would like to see a side by side comparison of a dyno map with a non power commander Busa with a full system and one with a power commander on the same bike.

If you want maximum power with an aftermarket exhaust, you still need a PC. If you don't care about racing and want good gas mileage, the OEM 0/2-sensor and bung will work just fine...

Again, you won't get maximum POWER with the factory sensor, you still need a PC for that....

I've had my Yosh 4-2-1 R-77 system on for quite a while now, no PC-III, runs splendidly, fueling is still crisp and responsive as before.

Gotta concur with GPW's findings on their dyno.... with this Yosh 4-2-1 set-up, you might pick up 1-2 hp with a PC-III, but for all intents and purposes for street riding, big whup.

IMO, it's better to put that $$$ into a mod that would actually do meaningful stuff for ya, maybe something like suspension upgrades, new set of tires, etc.

+1 Here Here.

okay before you all think that it self maps..........................
first it will adjust to 14.7:1 as in it will lean out NOT richen up.
this is only at less that 100% throttle.
at 100% throttle it runs OPEN LOOP

if you think you don't need a pc3 and a good tuner just talk to the ones who have had there bike mapped.
low end REALLY pick up. and this 1-2 hp gain I guess someone needs to learn how to tune correctly

JohnnyCheese,

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink....

Oh well.....I'll probably be coming to see you when I move back to Texas after the summer.

I need a good tuner for Texas Mile...

Put an R77 on mine and have good AF ratio without a PC at 100% throttle. It ran rich with the noise plug in, so I'd say it depends on the pipe.

Does anyone have any numbers with a pipe and PC, and without?
aye... GPW did, go here to read more

With that said I still have a pc3usb and recently added an ignition module and HUB. Greg will be tuning my bike in the near future. I plan on having a race gas tune and a pump gas tune. It will be interesting to see what role timing will play.

And to Johnny cheese... you don't need to be a rocket scientist to adjust fuel according to a line you get from the dyno... Changing timing however requires a bit more skill IMHO.

LMAO
been doing this on a dyno since 1989 not the 00's
