PDX GSX1300R

I’ve been to a couple and the only thing I really liked was the variety of bikes that were around. I found it odd that although most of us wave as we pass each other on the road, most everyone in attendance at these things hardly acknowledge each other.

St. Paul, Minn — With the signing of HF 5247 into law by Gov. Tim Walz (D) on Friday, May 24, Minnesota became the sixth state to legalize lane filtering and joined California, Utah, Montana, Arizona, and Colorado — which also signed lane filtering into law this year — as states that permit lane filtering.

As part of a supplemental budget bill — which impacted several departments, including the Minnesota Department of Transportation — motorcyclists in Minnesota will now be allowed to filter through traffic “at not more than 25 miles per hour and no more than 15 miles per hour over the speed of traffic in relevant traffic lanes.” Written by Sen. Scott Dibble (D-61) and Reps. Frank Hornstein (D-61A), Brad Tabke (D-54A) and Erin Koegel (D-39A), this section of the bill will take effect on July 1, 2025.

That’s good news, more states the better. Hopefully they’re advertising the fact that it’s legal now so everyone knows. Every highly populated community should allow it.

Boy ur “momma” sure looks young.

She'd be pleased to hear that.

She only rides once or twice a year. Seems to like it. We do maybe 25 miles. Slow back roads. Easy does it.

I've had her on my dad's GL and my old VTR, then the GSX. We did a multi-day excusion on the GL in Arizona. She loved it. I could see doing the Six Pack route and adding a second moto to the fleet at some point.

I've thought about trying out a rental bike (Eagle Rider?). Love to fly to Arizona next winter and moto with my brother-in-laws, both of whom ride.

I'd like to get her into a full-face helmet as well. She will do one if she "has to." She wanted to do a go-kart thing for work and bit the bullet. I've had her in my "modular" full-face, but she gets claustrophobic. Just need to keep things fun for her.

Thinking about getting one of these ghastly “sport touring” screens. With the wind along the gorge, my old neck is becoming a limitation.

Wife: “I found a cheap flight to go see my girlfriends for a long weekend in July, is that OK? Carl (acting cool, but actually super excited for a long moto ride): “You bet.”
