Thats how we feel. Our animals are our children. We are not planning on having kids, so this is what we love most and spend our time with! Our pastor (my wife is lutheran and I am catholic) was willing to do a very nice ceremony, but not dwell on any religion too much. He also felt terrible that they wouldn't allow our dog in, so he came and did our ceremony at the reception hall for us. It was wayyyy more important to us to have our pooch in the wedding than to have our wedding in a church. The pastor was from my wife's church growing up. Neither one of us is much into our churches too much, but it seemed important to her to use him. And I thought he was such a great guy. During our 'classes' before marriage, he completely understood us. Didn't bash us for our choices up to that point (living together etc.) he was up with the current times. He had just come back from his second tour of duty in Iraq, so he understood me and my profession really well (Police Officer). I could not have asked for a better man to do our ceremony. Even my parents, who are kinda on the stricter religious side loved the guy even though he was from a Lutheran church. I tell my parents shut up when they preach their catholic nonsense over lutheran. we believe in God period. So do they. So who cares where we attend church the times we actually go, or who does our ceremony. Ahhh the great memories of wedding preparation. People should just be happy my wife wanted them there, or most of my family wouldn't have been invited if it were up to me
These pets keep us going and have helped us through some rough times. Not marriage rough times, I mean other rough times like family deaths, etc. They listen so good, and know how to help and be there. I believe they were the biggest reason why my wife recovered so well from some surgeries she had. They were there 24 hrs. a day to keep her smiling!
