ROADTOAD's new ride

I got a ride on the Gen 3 back in march , post #386 on this thread , there is a bit of a ride impression write up . I will be riding the same road home today on the Zed14 .
Not sure how I missed that post but to hear your take on the gen 3 only tells me what I already knew and that is I need me one. Hopefully I'll be able to get one in the next couple years and maybe by then they'll have one in the fastest color

Picked the bike up last Friday , luckily got a break in the weather , and the ride home was pretty wild . First off the tires were not checked before I left the shop , so both were low in pressure . Anyway , the torque sure has increased , the spread is soo nice , and hp from around that magic 8600pm onwards , the bike is fast , only run it up in lower gears , but seems to power wheelie even more so . I definitely need a new rear tire now , the wheelspin drifts let loose as I hit some of my favorite bends ... decided to take it easy after a big moment ... Stopped for fuel and continued onto home . Now looking forward to re dialing the bike in and for spring to arrive .

Glad to hear it made a difference and has all that power for a great rider. I kind of had a kawi z1000 hand me my arse a bit today and was not very happy about . While I'm sure the bike has some nice power the reason he was able to get so far out on me was definitely because of my own riding. It was only a quick pull off the light and I am horrible at trying to launch the bike so he was already taking off before I hit it and then the bike lifting the front tire up pretty good going to second was enough to make me let off a little since it's been a long time since my busa has done that and I'm not one who likes the front tire off the ground. Then when it did it again going to 3rd it was too late and he had a good lead on me and unfortunately I had to take the next turn so didn't get a chance to redeem myself by doing a rolling pull where I'm sure I would of got him or at least not looked so bad. Makes me want that gen3 even more now so that I can have fancy things like launch and wheelie control like he did so that I don't have to worry about looking as foolish trying to launch .

Hey Dopey , does your bike hop or just not take off smooth when you try to launch it at a stop light drag ?? Well , you might need a clutch sort of lock up ring , to stop this clutch slippage , well smooths it out anyway . Some very good riders can get the launch okay even with the stock setup , but I remember a lot of hit and miss amongst my street launches till I got this . Here is an example you can get , but there are other sellers of the same thing out there , APE for another off the top of my head .

Sounds like it’s a tremendous upgrade and now a monster Andrew.
It is bro , a big improvement on the fueling , it has now finally been rectified . My tuner and the fellas at Woolich got it sorted , before this fix , it had been an ongoing fueling issue , that I actually caused myself ...
I will give you a quick run down on what happened . Okay , I had my ECU flashed by a US fella , and we think a corrupted file was accidentally loaded onto the ECU . The bike was over rich at a low rpm in 4th gear , so affected all legal street riding to some degree . Anyway , long story short , the US flash was eventually successfully scrubbed , then this final tune and full de restriction done and we got proper power spread for first time . Now it feels like a true factory monster to me , it always felt pretty fast former @ 203 bhp tune , but this 210bhp and the torque increase and the hp spread with the throttle seetings feed up , man I just love it .

Honestly it's just me, I scared myself a few good times when I first got the bike and tried to launch it like my old srad and ended up looking at the sky real quick and I've never been one that liked wheelies:D. I've thought about putting the lock ring in there and will one day but for now I got to get better at the launch and not letting off when the wheel lifts,I tell everyone I ride with its rare for me open the throttle more then half way unless I'm already in triple digits for this reason and I'm pretty sure my buddy that I was riding with at the time finally realized I wasn't lying lol. I'm not too big on using my bike as the guinea pig but I'm finally putting our dyno back together in my shop this week and while I don't really liking having to use the power commander I figure it should be fine for now because I don't have the extra money to shell out to buy anything from woolich or to even get the cords from @smithabusa and use ecu editor but since powerhouse already did his basic flash on it hopefully adjusting the fueling can smooth things out and give me a few extra horses but unfortunately I know it won't be nowhere near that beast you have but one day maybe I'll be able to build it up and get close. For now I'll deal with what she has to give me and the next upgrade is gonna be suspension parts most likely not as nice as ohlins but definitely gotta get some heavier springs in the forks at minimum.

Got my L2 Busa Woolich tuned by the same fella I got my ZX14R recently tuned by . So same dyno , similar weather .
The Busa was formally running a Brocks generic fueling PC5 , that came with the CT Meg titanium exhaust . I was pretty happy with it , it made 105 ft lb and 183 bhp . Since that original setup , I have since fitted short stacks , and run a Sprint P08F1-85 .
For this Woolich tune I removed the PC5 and the Autotune , ready for ECU stand alone tune .
I haven't got the torque figure on this sheet for some reason , will hopefully get that on the full print out tomorrow , when I pick up the bike . The bike made 195 bhp , pretty happy with that , and I will see how it feels on the ride home .

Rode the Busa home from the tuners today , I take the long way as usual , makes a 120 km trip back roughly , Well the Busa is like an old girlfriend , I am just comfortable on her straight away ,

with my ergo mods to her , combining the extensive weight reduction and this tunes fat torque curve and power spread , it is a real delight to ride . I know this bike is more comfortable than my ZX14R , but wasn't before my mods . Because this bike is setup , it is now the better handling bike to up to a point , the point being truly open fast swervery . I think the Busa is deserving some updates , might invest in a lighter tank for the old girl now .

They're both decent and smooth curves! Do you have cams installed?.

No cams yet bro , the tuner has tweaked it carefully with just the woolich system . Eventually , I am thinking about some extra head work , and compression / cams / valve springs etc. sometime in future . When it is due for a refresh down the track , wont be up to your LE power or cc , I will most likely keep it 1340cc , I will look for 200+ .

It's all worth every penny mate. The second K8 has engine goodies installed and makes some decent power even with the cams.

Hi. Put a turbo kit on it! Do not go wild like I am. 230 to 380 HP. Rods and pistons that is it.
It is tempting , I would be calling on you for advice , direct line , if I ever get swayed . I got another Yankie mate also pushing me to go that way , I just worry about a grenading motor , that is for both normally and boosted , probably got a tuner who might be okay for it . I be thinking on it , maybe next year I decide .

Hi. I think that a turbo is no as hard on the motor as high compression and bigger bore. Like I said good crank, Gen 1 block, the best rods and custom pistons. JE made mine set up to run the Gen 1 20 mm piston pins not the Gen 2' s 18 mm pins and I had them move the ring lands down 80 the. I just got a new phone I will look into international calling.
