ROADTOAD's new ride

Your machine is really an ultra in every aspect of build and design Mike , just everything done right , no compromise accepted , love it . Yes , I looked into carbon tanks , and really no luck there , I have always lusted after a carbon tank , and a fella I know has a beauty he is not selling unfortunately , so I went with the Yoshi endurance tank .
Here is a pic of the carbon one I was seeking , no longer made , or available ...unless my friend sells it too me !!!

Pretty sexy tank....

I went and priced out full CF body work for my bike and it wasn't an inexpensive venture however, I looked up a couple bikes with full CF and found it just a little too much CF for my taste.

I ordered the rear signal light pods to check them out as the paint was bubbling on mine...they are works of art...beautifully finished and fit like OEM....and so light I thought the box they came in was empty.

I might get a CF front fender though just to balance it off a little.

Hi. I look at Montgomery Motor Sport #937-540-9369. They may be able to help. Al so try Hard Racing #704-799-2192. DME sells CF parts too. The girl at Catlist had them custom make mine. Montgomery has a low pro 3 gal tank.

i never seen a 3 gallon CF tank... kirkland makes one.... modified montgomery tank.... but 3 gallons i dont really consider streetable...... maybe just barely.. i think the montgomery stuff is all fuel cells and a shell..... that they call a tank. and catalyst says to not let fuel sit in their tank... the ethanol or whatever might eat at it..... not just them, all composite materials have this issue... one company lines them... its slim pickings out there for real streetable lightweight tanks.

I have committed to the aluminum tank now , 10 month almost pregnancy wait time line , at least I know what it will look like . I have been known to drop my things on occasion , I guess this is sort of some insurance from potential fireball catastrophic damage .... or not lol .
I do still desire that carbon tank , and / or / if someone makes what I like for either bike in decent capacity , then I will go for it regardless .

Hi All , I just thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing . Hope all is good with you all and still enjoying riding your bikes . I still have my Busa , and the Zed14 , but also just added a new ride to stable . I recently scored a KTM 1290 R Superduke , 2021 newish ( demo ) ... to help smooth out my mid life crisis lol . Well I got the shop to fit up the Ti Akrapovic race pipe and the matching ECU flash , and de smog it and KTM tech pack installed before I picked it up . I decided on BST wheels , which took awhile to arrive , and while I waited I swapped out the WP shock for an Ohlins GP TTX . I have been though the bike with full titanium fasteners , frame / suspension + linkage / motor bodywork , running KTM lightweight triples and Matris steering damper . The Stylema calipers are standard , but I scored a set of PFM UK rotors , a bit lighter than KTM performance disc option . I am still running it in , but managed a stoplight drag with a Gen 2 Busa the other day lol .. do not know if he was truly trying , but I was riding a bit of a bronco , as I tried to moderate the wheelie and keep the bike tracking straight , all great fun .
The Yoshi aluminum tank arrived recently for the Busa , so I am still deciding what will be done to tank finish before fitment . A couple of pics to check out .

That's a very good looking dog right there.......

It's crazy how fast they grow up...and at a certain age they settle down...

We dog sit for the neighbor from time to time and I remember when their dog (Weimaraner 95lbs) was a bit of a handful and now at 4 he's like an old man...just enjoying the day....

Hi Sarge , yes , I am finding it a fun ride for sure , still aint got out in the hills tho , because I am running it in and the bloody weather is still coming out of winter down under . The seat to peg ratio is excellent for me , so far .
It should handle like it's on rails in the twisties....light, agile and made to have fun....

Soon summer is coming for you....

The bike weighs 205kg wet and tank full , I aim to shave off all I can , so far 6.4 kg saved by pipe swap over , the lithium battery saved 2.7kg , the wheels I do not know , 2.9kg front and 2.8kg rear , bare no rotors . Got a box of stuff the shop boys gave me which is smog stuff and bracketry etc. I also got a 4kg box of bolts and bar weights and any brackets etc . I removed , replaced with a third of weight at most because a lot of 70 series aluminum was used in addition to the ti fasteners . I will weigh it sometime down the track , and once the warranty finishes , I will fit up all the carbon bodywork I am accumulating . I truly am hanging to get it out in the hills . The power comes in early , 3000 rpm + it makes 60 % torque , first 3 gears are shortish , revs to 10,500 max , 75 degree v twin , 1301cc , 180 hp at crank , 100 ftlb at wheel so I read . Away , the race pipe might fee it up some , the Akapovic / KTM ECU flash might be good for a bit extra , but I got plans to go for different stacks and a fee breathing filter . I will see if there is a woolich tune fo Gen 3 Supeduke .

That's a dream bike. I would have one but we didn't have a dealer anywhere close - apparently a necessity at the time. Anyway, we have one now and I'm still feeling that itch for one but time to change focus. Congratulations - can't wait to see your improvements!
Definitely buy one Arch, the GT is a different kettle of fish in regards to touring. So docile when you want it to be then 180hp of V-Twin grunt.

This bike is comfortable Willie which I love . I chose this SuperDuke R model for the full performance base , that I could then modify . I pretty much had a choice of either modify my Gen 2 Busa with supercharging or full house build big cc the motor , or buy a Gen 3 , or a Ducati ( maybe next bike down the tack ) . But the KTM always appealed to me , the simplicity of it design , but packed with hi tech . Like a big cc v twin super moto , powerful enough to move my fat ass in good speed , and will handle great too . So I rang Kessners , worked out a deal , and got the ti race pipe and ecu flash , tech pack with quick shifter etc fitted for pick up . Got the Ohlins sprung for my weight , the WP fork is set up as best I can , and i am surpised how good it is , WP is top level , but my weight is what I am talking about . A US racer , fantastic KTM rider , Super

duked GoGo , he sells a great linkage for raising the rear height , so I run that along with the Ohlins ttx . Now the BST are fitted and lightweight tripleclamps , I am looking at some other mods , not for any real need other than I want to do them . A couple of pics of some of the bits fitted so far , and the Yoshi tank .
