Russia and Ukraine

Want to take a shot at why these countries leaders hate the USA? could it be a little bit of jealousy and penis size envy?
These leaders that you say hate us would probably be doing the same kind of activities we are doing if they had the financial and military power that the USA has.

I have never watched Game of Thrones but this worlds headline could be...

Who will win the game of thrones.
the cost of acting with impunity is going to have a negative. So when military operations are undertaken by countries acting with impunity for the last 50 years or so something is going to give. Usually what goes around comes around

I don't get how NATO can take offensive measures without a NATO member country being threatened?

Also what really pisses me off about all of this is We (the US) are going to end up paying a fortune to get Ukraine rebuilt.
How do you know that wasn't the plan to begin with? Look at just about everything Biden touches... Whatever he does cost Americans more with every lie and bonehead decision he makes. Maybe Biden's plan it to BK America and spread everything so thin that our enemies can exploit us.

What percentage of NATO is the US Military a portion of? 50%, 60%... or more?

Thats right zerks, after 30 years in the senate living modestly and while nearly 80 years old his plan to bankrupt America is finally coming to fruition….smh!

Huh? I guess you missed the truth about Burisma and the Bank of China and how those arrangements benefit the guy installed in the White House. . Those two Biden exploits are the most recent and show us what political graft looks like. If you peel back the pages of Biden's history you will find more skeletons. Biden has even gone on the record saying he is more or less for sale... pay to play as it is known.

Modest living? What is Joe's net worth now as compared to before he became the VP? Yes, many people that are rich are known to live a modest lifestyle as compared to their earnings. Or, as Leno once said... how much cake can you eat? Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to spend it. What did Hunter buy in LA? Was is a property worth about 2.5 million?

Do you like it when Hunter says... probably a lot of things wouldn't have happened if my name wasn't Biden?

^It takes a really small American to spread propaganda that makes leadership more difficult in a time like this. Makes me question their commitment to our country.

Putin has his back up and will stop at nothing until Ukraine is in his hands....it might very well be a big pile of smoldering remains but Russia will take it eventually...Russia is now looking hard at cutting off the supply route bringing in arms and equipment to the Ukraine military. Once that happens, they (Ukraine) will expend their western supplied arms and then be at the mercy of the Russians..

The only good thing coming out of this is a couple of things:

Russia is expending quite a bit of energy taking Ukraine which will seriously deplete their ability to project force elsewhere and;

The west was/is able to see how Russia launches an attack and can observe their weaknesses (of which there are many).

If we track back to the second war, Russia had special teams to keep their troops in the fight, these teams had machine guns and would kill anyone who retreated....they also used a centralized command structure which was very much a weakness as if the commander is killed off the remainder of the assault force is lost...it looks like that same doctrine is still in play.

Russia sorely underestimated the defensive resistance of Ukraine and the size of the battle group needed to take and hold ground...

Here is the thing:
Shortly after the elections, I posted a thread about what I expected gas prices would increase to under Biden. Even before Ukraine, the increase exceeded my expectations, after Ukraine the highest increase in decades.

Our borders are open, we have basically lost control.

The stock market has tanked, it shed trillions.

We have record inflation, the rate of increase being higher than in the past 40 years.

Debt is spiraling.

Ukraine is being invaded and we are on the brink of WW3.

Iran just bared its teeth and fired missiles our way in Iraq.

The entire world were dismayed about how we exited Afghanistan.

And yes Hunter remains pretty much an embarrassment to the administration.

It’s OK to be a Trump hater, based on the style of his exit, but every day fewer folks have their heads stuck in the sand. People are taking note.

^^^
And another achievement, not.
This morning the PPI jumped to its highest increase level ever. We have a record!

Jellyrug is right but one more thing
That squinty eyed old goat blew trillions of dollars with nothing to show for it except inflation.
Our military of course is always on the short need of the stick with this guy think Afghanistan. The Russians did.

This thread is starting to slowly devolve into the Biden/Trump political garbage again....

Putin invaded Ukraine...at this point it doesn't really matter who was in power in the US at the time...he didn't ask the US for permission.

What is important is the people of Ukraine are fighting hard for their country against overwhelming odds...they may lose in the end but Russia won't be steam-rolling over them.

'May' being the operative word. A pyrrhic victory even if so.
Interesting summation by General Patreas on CNN site.

Here in the UK we are offering folk with houses with spare rooms £350 / month ($465/ month ) to give Ukrainian refugees homes for at least 6 months.
100,000 brits have already have signed up.

So I have been thinking about doing the right thing . I need to make room so my wife and son will move out for 6 months.
Its for the sake of humanity.:D

On a serious note , some of my retired friends are considering the above , giving rooms or floors in some of their big houses.

Looking like 5 or 6 million refugees May need temporary accommodation as I hear 3 millions have left Ukraine already

Would Ukraine have happened under a different US Administration?

Let’s look at recent history.

Russia helps Syria with acquiring chemical weapons.

March 20, 2013 Obama draws a red line, says if Syria uses chemical weapons, it would be a game changer. Warns Putin.

April 29, 2013: A helicopter dropped canisters allegedly containing chemical weapons on the town of Saraqeb. Eight people claimed symptoms such as nausea and breathing problems, and one of them later died.

August 28, 2013: The United States has concluded that the Assad regime conducted chemical weapons attacks against civilians, President Obama said in “PBS NewsHour.” Obama said he had not yet made a decision whether to take a military action in Syria.

August 31, 2013: President Obama made a statement saying that he would seek an authorization for the use of force from Congress for a limited military strike in Syria. Given the evidence of chemical weapons use by the Assad regime in the August 21 attack, Obama said he supported limited action in order to deter further chemical weapons use and uphold international norms. From here the only thing which happens over several months is the apparent destruction of hundreds of tons of chemical weapons. Nothing more.

April 4, 2017: Chemical weapons were used in an attack that killed dozens of people in Syria's northern Idlib province. Initial reports suggest the attack used sarin gas, a nerve agent. The attack is believed to have been perpetrated by the Syrian government, due to the type of aircraft in the area at the time. The OPCW announced that it is investigating the reports. Syria denied it was responsible.

April 6, 2017: Trump reacts immediately and warns Putin. The United States used Tomahawk cruise missiles to target an air base in Syria. The Assad regime is believed to have conducted the April 4 chemical weapons attack from that base.

June 26, 2017: The White House issued a release saying it identified "possible preparations for another chemical weapons attack by the Assad regime." The statement said that Assad will "pay a heavy price" if he conducts an attack using chemical weapons. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said in a separate statement that by supporting the Assad regime, Russia and Iran would also be accountable for any further use of chemical weapons.

April 13, 2018: The UN Security Council met for the fourth time that week to discuss chemical weapons use in Syria. Russia and Bolivia continued to urge the United States against taking unilateral military action as the United States, France and the United Kingdom seemed to make the case for a strike. "Should the United States and our allies decide to act in Syria, it will be in defense of a principle on which we all agree, U.S. UN Ambassador Nikki Haley said.

France, the United Kingdom and the United States launched precision strikes on three Syrian chemical weapons facilities. In a televised address to the nation, President Trump explained that the purpose of the strike was to "establish a strong deterrent against the production, spread and use of chemical weapons." He continued "To Iran and Russia, I ask: What kind of a nation wants to be associated with the mass murder of innocent men, women and children?" Syrian state television reported that its air defense system had shot down 13 of the missiles, although the United States later denied that any missiles had been engaged. Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov said in a statement shortly after the announcement of the strike: "We warned that such actions will not be left without consequences."

There were no consequences which followed.
Phosphorous reportedly used the other day. Sign of things to come.
