Say it aint So!

Yeah, I'm hoping that Suzuki answers this with a Gen3 'Busa too. I love to see the wars and it just gives us better technology to play with.

Competition is great! It removes stagnation.
Unfortunately times have changed, and so has the motorcycle scene. Bikes like the busa and 14 have outlived their welcome.....there aren't going to be any 3rd gen busa's or 14's, their time and market has come and gone :( The companies aren't going to keep throwing money and R & D into the tiny market share the big bikes make up :dunno: But we're gonna see some SMOKIN' liter bike over the next few years
Enjoy the busa's you have now boy's and girls, cause you're seeing the final hurrah!

I love bikes, trikes, and cars thats where my loyalty lies.

That being said I still find the beemer and most other bikes either to ugly or uncomfortable to surrender my Busa keys for

So true, the Busa is such a versitile bike. You cant pack your luggage and ride 2up all day on this beamer.

I have always had 1 or more fast street cars, and I always knew somebody would be faster on another day. You could spend yourself into the poor house trying to be topdog.
It cuts me deeply to hear some of guys drooling over the beemer. Have you no loyalty. :corner:

I wouldn't trade my busa for a RR, but I'd sure think about buying it as a second bike!

so we can all ride the bmw until the motor lets go because longevity wasn't worked into the equation and apparently some of them are dead with fewer then 3k miles on them...and there will never be a quarter of a million bolt on accessories for the beamer like there is for the busa

True, but I bet many are goovin' on the 14,000 revs without warming up.
s1000rr is'nt the one to break in hard and fast. It's was tested 3yrs before
production, and has proven its self on enduros.

When they show me that it runs 194 off the show room floor then it can be the fastest production bike... Until then it's all just magazine hype to sell subscriptions..

No it aint cap. Suzuki has been resting on their laurels since 1999. The genII did not over come the zx14, (big disappointment) And the bmw will spank your azz. GET OVER IT ITS, JUST MOTORCYCLE

this months super streetbike mag proclaims a new Speed King!, a bike that "owns all"
#7 ducati 1198
#6 R1
#5 kaw 10R
#4 CBR1000
#3 GSXR1000
#2 Hayabusa???
#1 BMW S1000RR

"not only did the BMW s1000rr win, it annihilated the rest of the pack" magazine caption.

By there numbers a tuned bmw, (pipe, commander, and custom map) beat the busa hands down in all their categories.

Stock vs Stock the busa only won in the 0 - 60 2.8 to 3.0 on the beamer. In Stock trim the bmw won in all other categories

Did someone say my name:laugh:

No, none. I digg bikes, no matter who makes them. when I got my 02 it was still the baddest bike around. It no longer is, Back in 1981 when I got out of the army, I could run five miles, kick azz, and take names. Now I"m fifty and I can take names:rofl: Get over it.

They are two different types of bikes and each have their strong points.

First, I will never be without a 'busa, I love this bike! Having said that, I've had my RR for a couple months and 1 track day and....WOW! The bike comes with 4 modes listed below.

1. Power Mode: Rain: Power is cut to 150 bhp, reduced torque, and the
throttle response is more gentle.
* The braking force is applied to both front and rear wheels (partially
integral brakes)
* Rear wheel ABS operates even when only the rear foot brake is used
* The system detects if the rear wheel is lifting
* Wheelie protection operates
* Reduces rear wheel spin
* Increased traction and stability even when the frictional coefficient
spikes suddenly

2. Power Mode: Sport (which is the default setting): Full power (193 at the \
crank, approx 183 rwhp) with a fast but smooth throttle response.
* The braking force is applied to both front and rear wheels (partially
integral brakes)
* Rear wheel ABS operates even when only the rear foot brake is used
* The system detects if the rear wheel is lifting
* Wheelie protection operates
* DTC is slower to intervene than in Rain Mode, so slight drifts are
possible when exiting corners

3. Power Mode: Race: Full power but instant throttle response.
* The braking force is applied to both front and rear wheels (partially
integral brakes)
* Rear wheel ABS operates even when only the rear foot brake is used
* No rear wheel lift detection
* Wheelie protection operates
* DTC even slower to intervene so longer drifts and brief wheelies are
possible when exiting corners

4. Power Mode: Slick (coding plug required to be inserted): Full power with
an aggressive and instant throttle response.
* The braking force is applied to both front and rear wheels (partially
integral brakes)
* ABS does not operate when only foot brake is used
* No rear wheel lift detection
* Wheelies allowed up to a lean angle of 23 degrees and for up to 5
seconds

My Gen1 busa made 154 hp at the wheel bone stock.

Did anyone even READ the article... :poke:

What a complete JOKE!!!

Based on the published times, they would have trouble beating a 600 at any track I've been to... :moon:

The info in the previous post was taken from the S1000RR forum.

Cap, I'm bringing the RR to Hallett in September. Let me know if you wanna take it for a spin.

Uhh, I don't think so...That S1000RR with all the ABS and their traction control thingy is around $16, 500.

i think if i ended up with $16,500.00 in my Gen II it would be untouchable...so for the money i'll remain loyal and faithfull to "Trouble" (my 08 orange and black)...and can only hope some day to have one of these so called speed kings line up next to me at the track...

out of curiosity, what is the wet weight of the stock busa, verses the stock beemer? are we really comparing apples with apples here? comparing the busa with literbikes isn't really fair in my mind... compare it with the zx14, bmw k1300...

not sayin' this BMW isn't a sweet ride...it is...but for another $4500..00 beans could have my 08 VERY STUPID FAST...

Apples and Oranges in my opinion. I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are but some quick googling returned the following results...

Gen 2 564 wet weight
Gen 1 548 wet weight
BMW 458 wet weight

well then, over a hundred lbs on the busa and they're proud of a win? :rulez: yup...really makes me want to run out and buy one...

That's why I said apples and oranges and while the BMW may be 100lbs lighter it's motor is 300CCs smaller.

As an FYI, the GSXR 1k is 452-ish wet.

The weight doesn't bother me because the BUSA isn't a track bike so it's not suppose to be light (that's like a middle-weight vs a heavy-weight).

I just think it's hilarious what some of these mags will publish...

Lets discuss the 1/4-mile times:

BMW 10.3 @ 144mph
BUSA 10.5 @ 142mph
GSXR1K 10.4 @ 142mph
CBR1K 10.4 @ 139mph
ZX10R 10.7 @ 138mph
R1 10.5 @ 139mph
1198 10.7 @ 138mph

Even with a Brock's exhaust/PC/tune they could only get the BMW down to a 10.04 @ 150mph...

....and the 0-150mph times!

BMW 10.8
BUSA 11.2
GSXR1K 11.3
CBR1K 11.5
ZX10R 11.8 (Remember this is the bike that CycleWorld said was the 0-186 KING running 5th)
R1 11.9
1198 12.2

BMW 10.04 (Brock's bolt-on's)

They even ran the tuned BMW vs a ZX10R AMA SUPERBIKE...

It ran 10.2 @ 148mph and 10.4 0-150... ???
