Sick to my stomach...

So just to be clear, we can put 90 octane or higher? But not 87? Thanks

Update v365.3

Welp more bad news. All parts came in and bike was put together. Thew bike on dyno for some testing and boom.. Either a piston or head gasket went.

For the past few years when riding the bike, sometimes the bike would say its in 3rd gear but the indicator would jump to 4 or 5 or even be blank sometimes. It would also go backwards, so i could be in 5th and the bike would jump to 3rd or 6th.

I asked a buddy and he said his busa did the same and that it was normal so i said nothing about it.

Low and behold its the gear positioning sensor, AND that is really bad news when it does that on a Turbo bike when everything is configured through the ECU.

So bike on dyno and started going lean when then sensor went blank.

FML

So builder is going to go in and take a look with the camera, look at the pistons and see how bad the damage is..

Roller-coaster continues

OK guys shes finally back home!!!!

Now I am working on sealing in the piston rings for the next 500 miles ( already put about 200+ on it) and then she should be all done. As you can see in the picture, I also got the charge pipe changed to black

What an experience.

Another lesson learned : No dig racing with the 3D chain as the bike has to much HP and will just stretch the chain out. Another $300 lesson learned.

Looks great, you wouldn't even know it was a monster....the stealth look is best IMO.

Glad you got her back. It has been a long year I'm sure. Enjoy it!

That sucks! Mine steered doing that and I decided to change the gear position sensor and be done with it. When I went to order, I noticed there was an old part number superseded by a newer one, so maybe Suzuki new about the problem and upgraded to a better part? I have never had an issue after changing it years ago, but my bike is not a turbo bike.

@s3ns4i my gear indicator is a little funny the first time I start the bike each year. It seems a little slow, indicates N when it's in 1 or two. That seems to go away after I take off on the first ride. I think it just needs a little switching around to free it up. IDK but it seems like it would be something mechanical, not electronic. Anyway, that might be normal for a busa but as far as I know, the GPS works perfectly all other times.

From what I have been told, on NA ( Normally aspirated) bikes, the GPS really is not that big of a deal. I have a few buddies who had the same issue as me ( which is why i never changed mine) and they are fine. One just rolled over 76k miles on his busa.

On a turbo bike that is programmed through the ECU, it can be catastrophic. When you are in gear and the indicator goes to N or blank, it shuts off fuel and things start to melt really fast.

It's $85. I would change it and be done.

My non-turbo GPS needs replacing for same reasons stated in this thread. Got any notes on how you did this? Any issues? Thanks in advance!

I paid my builder to replace the part for me. You could possibly find a bike shop close to you and ask them how much to replace it. I know the part shouldn't be more than $85-95 USD.

Welp everyone after the rollercoaster ride this year has had on the bike, I can finally say that I was able to get out and FINALLY test it. Bike ran good, but I can tell that I need ALOT of seat time in order to get used to this amount of power. Ran a couple of races and lost them both, but with time I'm pretty sure we will get it dialed in. No excuses on the lost, just me needing to get a feel of this completely different bike from what I had before.

Now she sits until the new tire comes in. Thanks everyone for watching and stay tuned:firing:
