So Here's Today's Problem

I bet the injectors need a thorough mechanical high pressure cleaning as well. I'll post the webpage when my boy calls me back,Ken.

Maybe i have missread. It seems like the symptoms are the same, just happening at different rpm's/loads ?

Great description bad pix. Org: use the Macro feature on your digicams when doing close up shots. in each of the pix, the back ground was crystal clear while the object of interest (pump) was blurry. If you dont have macro put the object down then zoom into it from 3-5 ft.

Sorry for the hijack.

That's not the one I'm meant, Paul. I went there and didn't notice they offer ulta sonicinjector cleaing services.
Ok, finally got there link to work and they do offer the service.

Heres a direct link for thoses interested.

Normally, less than 5% of injector failure is due to electrical or mechanical breakdown.
Injector failure is largely due to build-up of deposits and corrosion causing blockages, resulting in reduction of fuel flow.
Reduced fuel flow creates abnormally high combustion temperatures to allow contaminants to harden on pintle.
Leaky valve seals, emission gas re-circulation and reversion from combustion cycle are contributing factors to debris buildup

Appreciate it.

We send out injectors to www.mpsracing.com all of the time to be cleaned & flowed and matched. They will send you back a flow sheet with pics of your spray pattern before & after.Very good service! Even if this is not the source of your problem,it is a very good idea to have it done anyway,to make sure your injectors are in tip top condition & to make sure they are flowing equally. We see alot of engine failure/melted pistons/burnt valves because of one bad injector in a rack, weak or failing. From the looks of your pump , it would be money in the bank to get them checked out at least IMHO.

Okay, removed the fuel injectors and they look remarkably clean. I did find one of the o-rings to be split which is probably contributing, but I don't think the main cause. There is obviously something going on there because the #1 injector and throttle body had some fluid leaking from them as you will see in the pic. I took a look inside the fuel tank, since I removed the fuel pump again, and I'm not sure if cleaning it is an option. There is still some rust/corrosion (not a lot), but with the rest of the problems I don't really like to see that.

Never mind about the pic it was crap, but what it was supposed to show the split of the o-ring on the #1 injector.

The crud builds up on the inside of the injector itself.you will not be able to see it on the end spray nozzle. The leak was prolly due to your torn o-ring.If theres rust in your tank,I would give that ENTIRE fuel system a good cleaning(including the injectors).

Thanks, Steve. How long does it generally take for them to get them done? And is that $25 per injector?

What do you recommend for cleaning the tank?

Well, went back out after watching the games today and starting putting things back together on Midnight. May have even made some progress. I removed the old pump and reinstalled the new one that I bought. After tightening everything up and connecting the power, I turned the key and she went through the start process like she should. Fuel pump cycled, tach and speedo swept (without stopping), temp and fuel gauges cycled and the fuel gauge went to empty with temp gauge going to cool. Don't think I mentioned yesterday that after the tach and speedo did there little skip the fuel gauge showed almost a fuel tank when it was obviously empty.

I'm gonna take Steve's and Ty's recommendation and have the injectors sent out for professional maintenance. Hopefully when I get them back and installed the weather will still be pretty good and I can fire her up and take her for a spin. I'll keep you updated.

This is the one I was talking about Ken! Thank Smiddy.........

Do you know if it's $25 for all 4 or each one?

New tank with a new pump and injector cleaning.been there and done this.
