SoCal Wipe Out (Updated: Note from JimmieSD)

Oh my, I just came home and found out about this and I am in shock to say the least.

I enjoy this man's company so much, he is an excellent rider and a great person to talk and listen to.
My family is praying hard for a full and speedy recovery.
Get back on two soon, Jim.
Godspeed.

I went to the crash scene this morning, Bubba. Got some pix.

The pix of what's left of the bike will be available to me on Tuesday evening. I'll post them at that time.

Tough day, for sure.

Hey, .oRg...just a quick shout to let you know that an (infrequent and rather silent) .oRg member, and very good friend of mine, had a get-off today.

Jimmy was riding his Ducati 1098s on US79 in the hills over Lake Cuyamaca when he low-sided. His scoot hit a tree, Jimmy hit another tree.

Of course, as it is our custom, he was fully geared.

He's in the hospital at this writing.

His injuries include a broken tibia, broken scapula, four broken ribs, and a punctured lung.

Jim is a great friend of mine and a compadre with whom I have navigated countless 10's of thousands of miles, literally.

Please take a moment to send him your best energy, prayers, wishes, whatever. It's going to be a long recovery for him.

To any of you SoCal guys who might be interested in seeing him, he's at Sharp Memorial off the 163 at Genessee.

You may recall Jim as the owner of: the Ducati (of today), and an '09 R1, and an '09 Gixxer 1k, and an '08 CBR1000RR, and an '08 R6. I went to GP Motorsports where his 1098s was 'delivered' today...it's barely recognizable. I'll go get some pix to share, tomorrow.

Anyway...

Thanks guys and gals.

Much obliged.

That bites and trees don't have any give to them. Like to see the pic's of the bike and PM me with his room number or last name so I can find him.

Prayers Sent and thank God for the MS (morphine sulfate).

Dennis; that's very cool. I know Jim would appreciate that.

Looks like he might be there another couple of days.

PM sent. :beerchug: Good man.

So, here are the crash-scene pix which I went to take today.

The first two are of the path of the bike... you can see the scrapage on the road...

And the following one is of the trees.

The tree on the right was struck by the bike, the smaller one (on it's left) was the one Jimmy hit.

Upon closer inspection, there seemed to be a lot of "Made in Italy" laying around.

As well, there are a couple of closer-ups of the tree which the bike hit.

Here are some pix of some of the stuff I found.

A rear-set, the after-market seat, the guts of the Valentine V1 radar detector...to name a few...

Lastly, very near the radar detector guts, I found this...

A memento I'm going to give Jim when he's out of the hospital.

It is the sheared-off key (in case you can't tell). He doesn't know I have it.

I know Jim will be very humbled by the outpouring of good will by the .oRg. (He won't be surprised at all, because I brag about you guys all the time.)

Be safe out there, ya'llz, and be sure to surround yourself with people who will take care of you when you need them.
