Stock Busa goes 196MPH

Excellent post, Dangermouse!

I'm pissed off readind all this crap about the bikes being restricted!

MCN had a lot of back-peddling to do when the '12 failed to do the business.

I remember, when the first "scoop" pictures appeared in MCN (and they claimed it would do 217mph or some such Bollocks), being wound up by my workmates - saying "there's a new bike now which is faster than the Hayabusa...."

I took on look at the shape of the '12, and thought there's no way that bike will be faster than a 'Busa!

In my opinion, MCN has a lot to answer for, in terms of getting politians hot under the coller about supposed "200mph Bikes".

Mr Lucky (don't I know you?!) good posts! nice to see a sense of humour! - if someone asks me the top speed of my bike, I tell 'em: Between 188 and 200 mph depending on conditions, and which mag you read!

wannabusa, is there any point arguing with this pillock? if he thinks 135RWHP and the aerodynamics of a Hippo can make 230 then he is too far up his own ar$e for saving - hopefully he'll die of methane poisoning. Methinks he has his speedo in KMH mode have a glance at it next time!

A bloke in my local has a stock Naked Bandit 1200 that does 180! trying to explain the intricacies of aerodynamics, power and, gearing needed for that kind of speed is like trying to teach a security guard to eat with a fork - impossible.

DM, thanks for reminding me, your reference to RWHP and aerodynamics triggered me to open another thread soon on what German mag Motorrad found out when they put a bunch of current sport bikes in the Volkswagen/Audi wind tunnel recently, including a.o. Busa, ZX12 and R1.

Coming soon to a theater near you, more oil on the Busa versus ZX12 fire.

(almost forgot this as mag was from during my holiday)

Yep, with rider, measurements done for both rider prone and sitting-up, they did a very thorough job on it but that will show itself when I report details later (on the job now, too much detailed specs for me to be able to memorize, need mag next to 'puter).

Hi Marc/NN,

And good to be back ... 3 weeks not even close to a 'puter being on holiday in quiet surroundings and in between switching jobs make for a very relaxed Animal now.

New job still looking good, though only 3rd day on it today.

Didn't actually order manual tensioner yet as my mileage ain't very high, so I'm just "watching" developments around this issue closely and I'm very alert on noises from engine all the time.

Did order clutch support thingie from TMH just now though 'cause mine needs that for sure with clutch mod and spacers.

could someone please quote the magazine article and publication date, so I can shut this R1 owner up!!!! He says his bike can do 230 mph stock! what an *** !

thanks for your ammunition!

Later,
Bill
