That ONE question !!

Only a few close brothers of mine and all of us know you break you bought it. I don't mean fix- I mean bought!

What I usually say is "sure you can ride my bike.....if I can f**k your wife." This usually deters them.

Yep! Don't like that gut feeling when my brother is on my bike. Had two other people ride my bike, but they could of covered the damages if they had to. One liked the ride so well he bought one. So something good came out of it! HAHA!

You're not petty...

I don't ask to ride other people's bikes (even though there are a few I would love too!) and expect the same. If someone asks me for a ride, I'll jokingly say "sure thing, I just need a $10k deposit". If they don't get the hint, I'll tell them "I can't let you drive, but you're welcome to hop on the back and I'll give you a ride". Usually the hump is on so that is not an option

only person who has ever driven my bike is the mechanic that brings it out of the shop after the oil change/maintainence... and he doesn't even ask. If I had a choice, I'd be pulling it on and off the lift myself... its my baby, and I don't like babysitters.

You are not being petty at all. Only 2 other people can ride my busa. My brother(who also owns a turbo gsxr 1100) and one riding buddy(that owns a modded GSXR1100), that's it. When others ask, I just say," are you F'n nuts, HELL NO". And that always seems to get the point across rather well. Not much room for misinterpritation there...Most people can not handle these bikes. And if my Bro wrecked it, he would pay for it no prob, If Mike wrecked it, he would pay to have it fixed, and offer his bike up to me interim. And I would not have to ask once.True friends....

I will have to agree with most here, my bike its just for me ... not afraid of loosing the bike... I'm afraid of loosing a friend... I couldn't help but to feel horrible if one of them loses his life or limb because I was weak and let them use the busa... that is where real friends take care of each other. not about money or material things, all this can be easily replaced, but a friend, a son, a husband or a dad... you will have to live with it for the rest of your life...

I advise all of my friends and all new bike owners to not let ANYONE ride their bike, well, except maybe ME.
I have let a few people ride mine, but only 1s that I absolutely KNOW can ride, and I am always on their bike riding with them.

Statistically, most bike accidents happen on borrowed or new bikes. The unfamiliarity factor counts for a LOT.

I don't ride other people's bikes because I can't afford it. There have been a couple of times when I have but man, it's just freaky to me. I've only done it on very rare occasions. I don't even ride my wife's bike. My reasons for not riding another person's bike include the fact that I don't want to have to pay for it and more importantly, I don't want to leave them without their bike for however long it takes to repair it.

By the same token, there have been a few RARE occasions when I've let someone else ride my bike. VERY rare circumstances.

--Wag--

you are absolutely within your rights to refuse to let anyone ride your bike, especially if you feel they are not capable of a) handling the bike or b) replacing it if something happens...only two other people have ever ridden my bike- one was an old riding buddy and i was right behind him on his hardley, the other was GSXTacy who is my brother and welcome to anything i have except Ms. Semi
