Sadly, and having experienced it first hand, no matter what we do, how we do it, precautions we take, policies and procedures followed, experts giving their opinion, people pointing the finger at each other...

Exactly! I posted about this. State Farm pulled out in large part due to the state failing to mitigate fire risk to a level they felt was insurable. They pulled out long before last weeks fires. I was initially sort of pissed at how they decide to leave. State Farm has freakin Billions of cash in reserves.

Tom insurance companies are not in the business to pay out more $ than they take in.

Then last week happens, and I begin to realize why they do it. This fire will bankrupt some carriers that stayed. This one event will cost more billions than insurance companies have. So if they go bankrupt in Ca, now all of their insured across the nation will have no carrier.

Its hard to watch people suffer worse that don't have insurance. But this week, you realize the insurers are much smarter than Ca is.

Sorry I have not read this entire thread and pardon if this is redundant. @Kiwi Rider did you see that California and Australia share fire fighting equipment? Due to it being winter here such resources are loaned to Australia for their warm weather season. Searching the Net I see some articles, "California may not loan equipment to Australia in the winter moving forward..."

I never knew about this 'sharing' arrangement . . .seems crazy to me, imagine the shipping costs?
It appears that winter in CA is just as bad for fire risk as summer or any other season with low rainfall and the Santa Ana winds in winter.
Here in NZ where I live we have just had the wettest December and January in a long time, so much rainfall it was ridiculous. It has barely been over 20degC in the last 4 weeks. And it's the middle of summer, usually high 20's to mid 30'sC.
One of the reasons I love NZ and living here is that we don't have 'wild fires', it's a temperate climate and the ocean is surrounding us, we are a small pair of Islands and not a big continent like the Americas and Australia so it does not heat up here,

Why do you continue to parrot the lies from the right without even trying to think about what you are writing. Have you or anyone that you know filed taxes for last year yet? Last year was 2024 in case your forgot, and I'm just starting to get my tax statements in the mail. I got one today.

I have been audited and never did the IRS say that I wasn't allowed to discuss anything about my returns.

And I have zero idea how much musk paid.
