The election is over

Interesting to note, while the new administration is on their way, already, China is showing it’s teeth, also picking some fights with Australia and Iran is really showing it’s teeth, increasing enrichment and making demands on the US.

Think we have an interesting 4 years ahead of us.
China has been testing the waters of the west for years now...remember when they built an island in the middle of a contested area, nobody challenged them and they raised a middle finger at whomever tried.

They went after Hong Kong, nobody intervened, Taiwan is next....

China is not our friend and is emerging as the world dominating superpower-a superpower which could give a "rat's arse" about environmental constraints or human rights....

Iran never was a friend to the west and have been rattling a sabre for years and years and years...Israel and Iran will go to war again before long I reckon.

I don't see anything overly significant happening which hasn't been boiling along for years and years...

As crazy as Trump may be, he punched Iran pretty hard and he was pretty tough on China. With The previous administration there are questions regarding both. Kerry with family ties to Iran and the Biden family gaining wealth from China.

Those were a couple of things he did which made sense.....China will soon be totally out of reach.

He kind of messed up with Iran by pulling out of the Nuclear deal...it made them free to do whatever they want now. Maybe Israel will solve that problem before they get too far along on their nuclear weapons program

Do you think it was OK to have a deal with Iran while they were forming proxies all over the Middle East, causing instability to all their neighbors with the ultimate objective to gain control? They had almost 1/2 of Iraq positioned against the US, even at the upper levels before Trump came on to the scene.

Do you think we could trust anything out of Iran?

Can you remember all their BS about the passenger plane they shot down, until it came to the point where they could no longer deny the truth?

I believe this statement from a fellow Corvette forum member...

It is a most accurate brief analysis of the situation we face as a country if we are honest with assessing what is happening before our eyes.

The left is like a drunk who has completely lost his temper and is in such a rage as to be beyond reason. They don't even know how to back down. 2020 was theirs to manipulate, to grab power forever thanks to election fraud enabled by engineered lockdowns. They didn't put a lot of thought into this, because they did not foresee the virus and plan around it, but simply took advantage of opportunities handed to them by the China virus. They are salivating to begin a golden age of repression that's theirs to embrace if they can just cheat their way into the presidency and senate. They cannot possibly concede and hope to do anything like this again, because internet-connected voting machines will never happen again, and their ideas will never sell to a broad consensus of voters. They have been thoroughly exposed as the anti-Constitution, anti-American anti-law and order party, and have no chance of being legally voted into power in the foreseeable future. So, it's now or never for this generation of unprincipled political thugs. Just like all fascists, they won't give in of their own volition, they have to be thoroughly defeated before they'll crawl back into the shadows to ruminate over a future grab for power.

LOL, that is a bit hysterical, I don’t think it will be that bad. If the Republicans were as bad as the Democrats though, they would start a Ukraine, China and Iraq corruption investigation soon as Biden is in office and try to impeach him.

However, I believe the prosperity of the United States is more important to them, than spending taxpayer money and doing damage to the nation.

Those proxies have been operating and formed long before Trump ever came along and sadly will be around long after he's gone...no government in the world can control or scare them. But they can intimidate them into action-such as Trump did...diplomacy would be the only way to deal with their leader-not intimidation.

The deal was for them to not be developing weapon grade Plutonium to avoid huge sanctions-now that deal is off the table, it's open season...once Iran gets to be nuclear capable...life will be sucky at best.

Iran's geography makes them feel invincible as a ground war would be a real challenge for invading forces. Air and drone attacks would have only so much effect...air power can't take or hold ground and that's what is needed to quell Iranian progression....

Nobody wants to make that call for obvious reasons....

You were in the military, not sure if you spent time in the Middle East?

In my career, I had a rather big portion of the Middle East in my portfolio and was physically based there for 5 years as a portion of my assignment.

Where I totally disagree with you is resolving matters by diplomacy.

The Middle East has no concept of the principles of democracy, they do not understand diplomacy.

They understand and respect authority, and they act by fear of the results when they disrespect authority. Even the Islam religion is based on those principles. They also have very strong tribal bonds.

I employed, coached and developed a few senior managers, born in the Arab world but college educated in the US. One would think that background would change their beliefs to a democratic Western culture, but in most cases it is impossible.

Even today, I respect who they are, how they think and I do not judge their different values to my culture, of which resolving matters by diplomacy is the accepted protocol.

The Western World would condemn the murder of Kashoggi. While I certainly don’t approve of it, I understand why it happened, that it is part of an authoritarian culture and those values have been entrenched for centuries.

For us Westerners having a dream of installing democracy and diplomacy in the Middle East is about as naive as it gets.

Don't think it will be that bad? Hmmm.. what does outright in front of cameras and eyewitnesses the stealing of an election amount to?
Yes... am investigation would be a good start. In the end a whole bunch of people need to be made examples of for future elections... otherwise... this country is over... a big brand new Banana Republic will have been born out of the crooked wretchedness that is the leftist political wing buried inside the Dimtard party. Don't want to believe it? Just look at who funds the mayhem in all of its various forms... from organizing to funding vote counting buildings... a 350 million dollar ( Zuckerburg donation ) funding for counting centers is front and center for one big exhibit of the fraud we have been seeing up close.

I spent some time in the "sand box" and have spent lots of time working amongst Islamic soldiers/civilians in various nations...the people I dealt with were everyone from farmers to jihadists in which were basically ignorant of their own teachings in the Koran (most couldn't read or write).

I may have mis-spoke regarding diplomacy and dealing with people within certain nations/regions...What I meant when I say diplomacy is you can't get anywhere using bully tactics.

Right off the bat, we as westerners are against a wall as there is very little respect for westerners in jihadist nations-the only diplomacy they respond to is at the end of a rifle.

However in a non-jihadist region-diplomacy can be anything from taking off your boots when entering a mosque or not having male personnel handling females....diplomacy is not always carried out by politicians.

Jellyrug you write from experience and I respect that very much. I still find it hard to believe that the general populace of the middle east has the same hate in their hearts that most of the leadership shows. I'm glad you mentioned Kashoggi. Hopefully he spoke for many. Idealism has a way of distorting common sense and critical thinking and yes the centuries of culture will be next to impossible to reverse.
Next to impossible is as hopeful as I can get on that subject.

Depends on the country and their level of education as to how they feel towards the west. They can easily be led by clerics with less than savory ideals...

We captured Taliban who were taught the westerners were there to violate their women and take their freedoms away...

They were especially anti-American and when they attacked us Canadians, they thought they had engaged American troops (the Marines and Canadian desert cam is very similar).

Many Islamic countries carry an anti-American sentiment.

Diplomacy has nothing to do with male personnel handling females. In most Middle East countries it is simply not allowed. Fly domestic in Saudi Arabia and your seat was designated next to a female. Once you board that will be immediately corrected. Male, female and family dining areas are separate.

I once had to negotiate a sales rep out of jail, simply because he dared a customer survey after a lady purchased our product in a supermarket.

Custom and culture is very different to diplomacy.

I beg to differ, you were obviously in civilized countries, where I was it was like the wild, wild west where everything goes and my version of diplomacy has everything to do with how you treat people and react to their customs and culture-we had many hours of briefs on cultural awareness but there are always gaps in how these are interpreted when deployed.

Basically raw diplomacy dealt with through blood and tears not boardrooms and lecture halls.

I guess you had your experiences and I had mine and the two are very different.

Definition from Webster's to refresh our memories-take note of points 2 and 3...

diplomacy /dəˈploʊməsi/

1 : the work of maintaining good relations between the governments of different countries

  • She has had a long and distinguished career in diplomacy.
  • The government avoided a war by successfully resolving the issues through diplomacy.
  • international diplomacy
— see also gunboat diplomacy at gunboat

2 : skill in dealing with others without causing bad feelings

  • This is a situation that calls for tactful diplomacy
3 : the art of dealing with people in a sensitive and effective way.
"his genius for tact and diplomacy"

...”diplomacy has everything to do with how you treat people and react to their customs and culture“

Absolutely!
You saw some bad examples of this during your war....

When a politician takes over the conduct of a military within an AOR-sadly what happened in Viet Nam is the result. Brave men gave their life only to have that sacrifice down-played by a bunch of meddling politicians.

My cousin who recently passed away (last Sunday) would tell me of the restrictions they had when engaging NVA and 'Cong units and how sanctuaries were politically set up for those units.
