Yes they have found other states to winter in. We have RV parks that cater to snow birds. They have very nice accomodations in these lots. Their entire model is based on 6 month occupants.
Some friends of ours bought a place in Yuma Arizona about 5 years ago. We visited them a few years ago and he asked us if we wanted some lemons and or grapefruit. Turns out that the park that they are in is about half Canadians, and they weren't coming that winter because of Covid. I think he told me that they could drive there but not fly there. And the fruit needs to be picked or it brings desert rats in. It was some of the best grapefruit that I've ever eaten.
