Moose, I have to apologize. I'm very sorry.

I was way too on the defensive when I read your post and for some reason, I came into my response with a chip on my shoulder.

You're a good man and you didn't deserve that from me.

Frankly, I think you and I might actually be able to solve the world's problems if we ever get together in person.

I have a brother living in FL so if I ever get down there, you MUST let me buy you a few beers. bowdown.gif Or if you're ever in this area (Albuquerque), please let me know and you and yours have a place to stay if you need it.

My best to you, bro.

P.S. We're on the same page with everything, to be sure! biggrin.gif

Today, this subject came up in the cigar shop. Someone said that Target is going back to using "Christmas" in it's displays.

I haven't been there to check, however, I went to their web site. The only use of the term on their home page is the Christmas tree section on the lower right hand corner.

Doing a search for "Christmas" in their search engine brings up 1700 or so results. Not a lot considering how many items they have in stock. Some of these items don't have "Christmas" in their descriptions so it's apparent that they have undisplayed Christmas index tags for items in their product databases.

Target is a tough one, I think, however, they do attach "Holidy" to things obviously Christmas so I still have my doubts about their integrity.

Wow... 105 no votes. Impressive.

And Scott... now that I know your middle name is Christopher, you must be terribly offended when those Columbus Day sales roll around santa1.gif

Actually went to the Target store tonight and the only thing that was labeled "Christmas" were Cards, decorations and trees. We walked the entire store and that's all we saw. You can pretty much guess what I did... Left and headed towards the house. Wife and I heard a Wal-Mart commercial on the way home. They used their slogan "Be Bright" in the body of the ad and at the end of the commercial they said loud and clear "Merry Christmas" We spent $400+ there.

For the record .. I drink Miller Lite or Michelob Lite beerchug.gif

Dang. I hate Wal-Mart for plenty of other reasons.

Bummer.

Still, I'm more into local merchants rather than big chains anyway. Gotta convince my wife is all without making her want to divorce my sorry butt! biggrin.gif

If ya want Miller Lite, you got i! I'll be jumping on a Sam Adams.

Cheers!

(BigGeorge @ Nov. 30 2006,23:04) A little something I found:

November 2006
Best Buy has announced they will be using "Happy Holidays" this coming Christmas shopping season, and they will not be using "Merry Christmas."

Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Co. Inc., says their advertising will not be using the term "Merry Christmas." "We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," Bryant said.

While many other retailers have decided to return to the traditional "Merry Christmas", Best Buy will not be among them. Best Buy considers the use of "Merry Christmas" to be disrespectful.

"We are going to continue to use the term holiday because there are several holidays throughout that time period, and we certainly need to be respectful of all of them," said Dawn Bryant, a spokeswoman at Best Buy Inc., whose advertising omits any reference to Christmas.

"We recognize that several holidays are celebrated during the months of November and December. Many people exchange gifts in celebration of one or more of these holidays. In order to be respectful of all our customers (and employees) who celebrate different holidays throughout the season, we are choosing to use "Happy Holidays" as the primary greeting in our holiday campaign.",

Strange, they don't want to use the words "Merry Christmas", but their commercials has Christmas related stuff like Santa Claus and stockings hung by the chimney and a tree in the corner of the house!
Walmart took a big hit last year doing this. All the "money news shows" brought lite of this. Target got it the worst.

This year? Merry Christmas. Last year Mikki and I made it a point to say Merry Christmas at Wal-Mart. It was a lot of fun.

As long as the far left loon's ie: liberals, ACLU, George Sorus and the rest keep taking away GOD, prayers and even the pledge of aligence (sp) in schools it will continue a sprial farther than it is now.

runeight...

locking and loading as we speak.  wink.gif

I'm Christian but I worship privately. I don't feel I have to go to church or talk about it to anyone or expect them to celebrate my holiday. I'm not offended by anyone saying Merry Christmas but I would expect that when all the other holidays are hitting that you acknowledge them as well. So I would prefer that people just wish each other a happy holiday. I don't think that is being Politically correct but courteous and respectfull of others.

(BigDawg_03Busa @ Nov. 29 2006,09:45) It's the meaning of the season, without the birth of Christ, no Christmas.  Without the reserection, no Easter!  The question is why has it become such a heated debate over the last few years?  Sign of the times maybe  wow.gif
If anyone does not believe these reasons then they should be at work and not taking the day off or enjoying the holiday . And how come I don't get offended if someone wants another religuos item shown on the public streets or stores . This country was founded on Christian beliefs!!!!!!. We gave everyone the right to have whatever religion they want but why does the others want to bitch about it all the time . This is a MAJORITY rules country but we always seem to yeild to the manority or whoever crys the loudest. Here in Seattle the airport was told by a Rabbi that he would SUE them if they didn't put up a manora with the chirstmas decorations. So the airport took down ALL the trees and then he said you can't do that it will cause anti semitism ( I know I spelled it wrong TOUGH). What a laod of crap . This is my holiday for the birth of MY GOD!!!!!! I won't give a $@#% when or what you do for yours so don't piss on mine!!!!!!!!

Duh! to those offended. There are other countries the offended can go to that don't celebrate Christmas - go there - please. Paleeze...

what a waste of time...
