I dissagree with you. Of course I studied that period of time in college and was totally amazed at the Spartan's and their advanced fighting technique so seeing it depicted on the big screen with such incredible special effects struck a special place in my mind. And the true key to the success of this film was the portrayal of Queen Gorgo. The line that she delivered in the very beginning of the film to the messenger about only Spartan women can give birth to real men, set the tone for the entire movie. We all have our opinions and I totally respect yours but after studying this time period when younger, seeing this movie brought back the joy of learning that I remember from those days. The Spartans were some of the most ferocious and brave warriers that history has portrayed and this movie clearly pointed that out.

It was a joke Shanling, and I enjoyed the movie. Let's just say that I recognized a number of tactics portrayed in that movie that are still used today.

Shanling.

DOT was just yanking my chain in response to a few other threads that were posted about the movie.. I REALLY enjoyed it.

to the extent that I did some research on line, and then the day after I watched the movie the History channel had a documentary about it named (the last stand of the 300) so that really was awesome to see that. so I have ordered two DVD's from the history channel about the battle of Thermopylae

AND, just for the heck of it. I also odered from Amazon the 1962 version of the movie "300 Spartans" (think that was the name)

anyway, DOT knew how much I enjoyed it so he was just kicking me in the nuts lol...
