Ugh!!! Speeding ticket in NC

wow ur really thick aren't you.... traffic court has plenty of ppl that are ARRESTED every day for DUI and reckless operation offenses just to name a couple. just because its TRAFFIC court doesn't mean its not an arrest.

when someone is ARRESTED the police dept will release arrest information as part of a press release. its done every day in just about every police department. if someone is issued an INFRACTION it is NOT released as a press release.

the OP was issued an INFRACTION. his infraction will not be privy to anyone unless he goes to court. so I know you think you know everything but no infractions are public information unless they go to court and get a court date.

plenty of ppl get speeding ticket FINES every day that does not require a court appearance therefore it would NOT be public information till he either goes to court (by choice if pleading not guilty) or simply pays the FINE and it goes on his DMV record.

and depending on the speed and the state a speeding ticket can surely be an arrest. that doesn't apply to all speeding ticket. only ones at a certain speed and on certain highway and byways.

so maybe you need to do a little more homework as a street lawyer....

Please do your work. I've given you all the links. Note the the DUI is in traffic not criminal court. Here is one only a traffic citation:

Not sure why you continue to argue the point, I've already given you all the info. Traffic citations are public record and available PRIOR to court date.

Here is an online Court Calendar for NC with the plaintiff, defendant and charges: Calendars / Error page

Or better yet, go here: Calendars / Impaired Driving Query and you can download the upcoming court dates for people charged (not convicted) of impaired driving.

Go here: Calendars / Citation Query by Defendant Name and pick a last name. Say 'Jones' and pick the first person listed JONES JR,CURTIS and you can see he has a court date on 7/11 (today is 6/19) for dWI, Speeding and revoked license.

so you can see traffic matters are posted online prior to conviction. This is NC, I don't know about other states.

So Yes - people do know when people are headed to traffic court for speeding and other offenses. Public knowledge.

Wow, clicked the link and found myself, with a speeding infraction and court date.

So, this is how this ends.:banghead:

Got five letters from attorneys looking for business.

The cheapest one charges $75, goes to court on the 28th of this month, the speeding infraction is changed to "faulty equipment" so there is no points on my licence, the court costs are $180 and the infraction goes up towards $50.

That ended up being a $305 Busa ride.

I guess I can't complain, my friends say I deserved it just for owning a Busa.

The matter has now been closed, thought I would just post how it ended for info.

Attorney entered a plea of "Responsible to Improper Equipment" which is a non moving violation and carries no insurance of drivers licence points. The plea was accepted.

I have to send the court payment of $283 by mid September and matter is dealt with.

So, joking of course I can inform all org members that in North Carolina, a Hayabusa is considered "Improper Equipment" as this machine simply cannot be controlled within posted speed limits.

OK - so I hope you learned your lesson and the next time you see any cops drive UNDER the speed limit by 10 mph or more. GOT IT?

get your GPS readings and show up to court and dispute it. I simply claimed I had the readings in Franklin County and the judge tossed the ticket and court costs. (and always dress professionally)

Strangest story: On my way back to Indy from Myrtle Beach May-'12 on my '02 Busa. After putting the Radar away through Virginia-they seem to be pretty militant about that sort of thing-I'm kicking loose through West Virginia mountains. Having a wonderful time in moderate traffic and getting up past 120 whenever a window opens, since my Radar detector is up and Lidar jammers front and rear. Radar goes off, full tilt and I slow down to 60 real quick, looking around for LEO. Sure enough the WV state police comes up from behind and I pull over. After 10 minutes of explaining the illegal nature of the blue LED plate bolts I had used when the rear lazer jammer blocked the plate light, the trooper goes on to discuss the reason he pulled me over-MY SPEED. My eyeballs start rolling back in my head waiting for the magic #. He tells me he clocked me at 60 in a 70 zone, and that was far TOO SLOW for the traffic around me. He was genuinely concerned for my well-being, saying that the other drivers will likely run me right off this mountain. To satisfy him with the blue light issue, I put a dab of gum over the blue LEDs and promise to remove them as soon as I get home. He pulled into the 1st lane to block traffic so I could get "up to speed" safely and the last thing he told me was to ride faster! Which I did as soon as I was a few miles down the road. REALLY nice guy!
BTW: He gave me, not a ticket, but a written warning...for the blue lights.
