He had to put his dog to sleep today. His dog is no longer with him.

He means when the dogs owner dies ,the dog will be waiting for him...
you know,"at the pearly gates". [of heaven]

Collies are one of the best of the best breeds...I have a German Shephard and I cringe to think of the day that he is suffering so bad you have to put him down...no way to make u feel better...it will subside over the next couple of weeks and then hopefully it will be just how grateful u are for having had such a great son...I love my dog so much...how guys like Vick can even look at themselves in a mirrror is beyond my comprehension...thanks for sharing the pics of your dog..anyone can tell he was just special...have always loved collies since Lassie...
