What Did You Do To Your Busa, Today?

My paternal grand parents were from Long Island (Babylon) and their parents were from there as well...

They are long, long gone now as my paternal and maternal grandfathers died in the war.....
That’s exactly where powerhouse is. @jeffgordon24 (Steven) is nearby too and I had the pleasure of meeting him and his super clean gen1. I have some childhood friends in Shirley.

Out of curiosity, for non race bikes or turbos, what is the gain or loss, money wise and horsepower wise when ECUs are flashed or mapped differently than OEM? My Kawasaki has a very touchy on/off throttle that unless it’s finessed just right, can make for some real pucker moments riding the twisties in the lower gears. It’s recommended that the ECU be flashed. Other benefits include, lowering the cold idle rpm’s and setting the radiator fan to come on ten degrees sooner (some owners report hot running motors) mine doesn’t. Later models did come with slightly larger rads though. The governor rpm can be raised or eliminated too. Cost for the flash is under $200. Reflash back to stock is free. Are these mods really necessary on Gen2s?

Back in Black! Decided that the Tall Adventure gold Fatbars combined with the Zeta Bar Backs was just a little more "sit up and beg" than I like, so I swapped them out for my old Streetfighter bend, big improvement! May need to buy some new gold TI bolts for the Zeta clamps just so they match the others.

So I just couldn't help myself and added Ti bolts to finish off my latest bar swap tonight. The RAM ball mount is silver so I didnt bother with that one. After doing some recall today, I realized that this is at least the 8th different Handlebar combo I have tried since I got the bike in 2005.

Went from Stock>Stock + 1 3/8" Genmar riser>Helibars> Helibars+ Genmar>Streetfighter bend Fatbar>Adventure bend Fatbar>ADV Fatbar+Zeta Barbacks>Streetfighter bar with Zeta Barbacks. Anything in the name of comfort I guess.

If anyone has isolated peak power gains that is nice to see. Usually dynos are reported with the hardware changes as well as fueling/ECU options, so the later is not isolated to answer the question, unfortunately.

...Are these mods really necessary on Gen2s?

Necessary? Well everything is an option.

Early on with this bike , I approaching a red light, slowing in gear, and the light turned green when I was still moving. I cannot say the speed or RPM...10 mph? It was a right-hand turn at the light as well. I turned and know that I smoothly added throttle. I did not know why at the time but learned from these members that fuel went from idle level to match whatever RPM I was at, the engine exploded, upset the fork, and the bike bucked a couple of times so hard that I thought I was going to be tossed. So far I handle this via shifting to second and riding the clutch instead of just throttle it back up in first. From what the members taught me, disabling deceleration fuel cutoff would fix this issue.

I would absolutely flash it. It’ll smooth out the rough throttle near idle, back when Frank was here before all the drama with the moron from Boosted Cycle and those who supported that fool, he did them dirt cheap for org members. Since driven away I don’t think he’s doing that anymore. Btw great job whoever did that. We had a really nice guy who would go out of his way to offer advice and a bum who picked up a wrench last week. And the literal bum was chosen and showed his true colors by screwing everyone over. I don’t know the specifics of who was involved in that nonsense but they owe everyone a huge apology including Frank.

Anyway so yes. Turbo is in Canadian land. I’m working on fabricating my new fuel plate with welding some aluminum to it so I keep my fuel gauge. Got in some bulkheads yesterday. Waiting for another set so I can pick which one I want.

A/A is not a disadvantage landspeed............................you got airflow
Yes but 90% of my time will be on the street beating the crap out of it. It never got hot enough to do any damage or anything I just wanted a/w and a Maxx Ecu cause well cause.

I just don’t know what to ask for it when I sell it. It’s the intercooler, plenum, secondaries, all brand new wiring on the secondaries and the microtech. Microtech is one year old and I paid $1800 for it.

My concours had the same throttle response you are describing and it was tricky trying to do low speed maneuvers on the heavy beast. A flash took care of it and improved the response. I feel like it was worth the cost.
My gen2 had similar throttle response until I got it tuned.

I removed my Bazzaz with it's maps and am running with the stock map in the ECU and I immediately noticed a big difference in throttle response....it isn't as smooth and has a slight hesitation....and less aggressive.

My ECU was flashed but the maps weren't changed as the Bazzaz had the maps...in hindsight, I should have had the maps done even if they were a canned, non-dyno tune....

The bike was dyno tuned through the Bazzaz.

If I was to pull my PCV, I would be in the same boat as you. One of our kind longtime members flashed my ECU and did all the usual things, but since I run a power commander, the tune on the ECU was left untouched. One thing I’ve been debating on is if should get a dual header and go back to the dual yoshimura R77 setup I used to run. The busa just looks so good with duals, in my opinion. The Vance & Hines Header with R77s I ran for some time wasn’t the top performer, but I’m not one of those that worries much about gaining an extra 0.5HP and saving 1 gram of weight (no offense to C10).

I have a fridge full of flavored water in the garage....

That's the only hydrating I do....I was one of those odd balls and never drank beer or alcohol...or smoked or did any sort of drug....
Good for you, bro. I like flavored water too. That's the right way to live. I regret all the drugs, alcohol and cigarettes I poisoned my body with in the past, but...an addictive personality doesn't care about common sense.

I smoked my last cigarette my last day in jail on April 28, 2014. Been clean ever since! :) I've been celebrating that anniversary every year.

Got me some ID 1050’s. Greg sent me the picture. If you are ever interested in going MaxxECU or needing anything custom, go with BoostbySmith. He is amazing. Sends pictures of progress and when parts come in. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I didn’t do it but Scott Davis and Greg Smith have been putting in some work on this project. I love that they update you with pictures and videos and communicate. These two guys are top notch. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to do business with them again!!

Pretty nice work....well done them....

....and Canadians to boot....

Do they work on many Hayabusas and do they flash ECUs (load maps)? It might be easier for me to ship my ECU to them...

RCC is in canadian land, but I dont know if he does that. Scott is the guy who welds everything for RCC and he does his own now too. Greg Smith is our very own BoostBySmith....
