Nice!
First ride impression?
Technically, second ride impression as the first was at pick-up to make sure everything worked and not drop it. Rode about 70 miles today and it was the most comfortable ride I think I have ever had. Not the fastest, though it has good acceleration for a bike it's size. Did find myself looking for 6th gear a few times and thought I had done something wrong when the OD light came on. The cruise lag is a bit annoying and I need practice making tight turns with the big girl. Was impressed with myself that I was able to get her up on the center stand though - technique, technique, technique

If a person is going to ride the distance, these are the machines to do that on for certain......

I see yours is ready to pull a trailer too....perfect machine to do dump runs with......

Yeah, it's kind of crazy. I certainly wouldn't want it to be my only bike and miss out on the joy of the sportbike, but for distance it really can't be beat. I felt like I could have gone to sleep on it, if I didn't have to make any turns. I don't think I will ever use the hitch for anything, but better to have. It was one of the many accessories that came with this bike.

Looks like jewelry, glad you got out. I rode my ol beast 194 miles thru the Sierra foothills myself today. Circled thru five counties all just west of the Park. Ran perfectly and has a lil over 39,000 miles now, with a lil over 5,000 since I got it. What’s your mileage?

33,648 when I bought and 33,720 after today's ride.

I got a plate for mine! Man stock gen 1 Busa brakes suck balls, but but the Brock’s alien head exhaust sounds badass.

I guess if nobody buys it, I’ll have to do some upgrades!

Mine don’t. EBC HH pads and a clean and properly bled system along with Galfer braided SS brake lines enable my brakes to work just fine. Good modulation and powerful braking results.

That’s bcuz yours aren’t stock :p

I have ss lines ready, just need to grab pads and fresh fluid. “Should” be good enough, I don’t wana go all out

If you're going to keep the bike, Schnitz has the Ebc HH 'Extreme Pro' pads, and they are Much better than the standard HH pads, they will stop you sooner.
You can get a good used Brembo mc from an old zx10 or R1 on ebay for cheap too, and BrakeCrafters has the rebuild kits.
Great stopping on a budget.

What year zx10 or r1?

It’s got some pulsation in the brakes so I might just go ahead and do it, and add it to the sale price. Right now I’m still just under $2000 investment so if I come across some cheap stuff, don’t seem like hard work.

Roughly 15ish years ago for either, they have them for alot of years.
Just ebay zx10 or R1 oem Brembo mc and see what's available right now.
I havn't looked in months, but there's usely several in the $100-$150 range, or less.
Any of them are much better than the Busa or Gsxr mc's.

Worked on my other bike yesterday.
Ratlin’ Rita. My Yamaha Vstar 1100 with a few modifications here and there.
Stopped running abruptly a few weeks ago. Pulled the carbs out and they look like they’ve been sitting in bad gas for years. Not sure how they got varnished like this in less than 6mo with regular riding. I rebuilt these carbs from top to bottom using authentic mikuni kits back in April. The needles were actually stuck in the carbs they were so gummed up this go around. But they are out and stripped again. Have an ultrasonic cleaner on the way (not a need per-say, but I’ve been wanting one). Also bought a set of starter/choke “jets” which were $42 each which is crazy for what they are, but they are specific to this bike’s carbs only, so no cross platform money savings there. Also had issues with the soft “Phillips” head screws sticking and Stripping out the heads. So I’ll be going back with all stainless Allen head hardware on this rebuild. Probly weekend after next before she’s back on the road.

Hard to believe that was ever a V-Star.....wow....

Those carbs look pretty nasty....only 6 months to look like that?

I've had carbs that after 10 years were still whistle clean....

Is your air filter over-oiled? There seems to be a lot of residue before the butterfly on the air intake side...

Yes, I get that a lot about it being a Vstar. I’ve had the bike for almost 12 years now. It’s seen a few different setups. But the setup now has been about 4 years in the works. Parts from all over the world on it- Cyprus, Belgium, Japan, Italy, UK, Germany, Australia ect. There were a lot of trick parts made for these bikes back when they were in production. Now the hard part is finding the parts in good or savable condition. But it’s came together pretty nicely.
