well for what its worth here is my 2 cents
for a computer i would use mini itx and a case like this one VoomPC Enclosure for Car Applications
for a linux based os i would use ubuntu ivi remix as it uses GENIVI-compliant packages genivi is a group of oem and aftermarket CO.'s working to amke a standard for in vehicle infotainment systems
furthermore what would be nice is to integrate a tuner and data logging you could ether use something like a pc usb or if it was me i would do something like this as i love the interface although it would have to run in wine although this an oil cooled efi conversion using it on a busa would not be much different and i would use the Microsquirt instead of the Megasquirt The definitive Katana EFI swap thread - KatRiders.com
