I read somewhere that to accomplish an actual U turn, our SR71 at full speed heading east above the AZ/Mexico border would be at the Canadian border by the time it was turning back west. Wonder what those G forces were, and for how long?

Hi. Ok here goes in my Lola T -142 234 MPH on the back stright at Daytona. 221 MPH in a Chevy Corvett Alcahol Funny Car. Not 1 GM part on the car. 208 on a ZX 11 with a 1300cc Super Bike Mike and NOS We changed the gearing. Figured out by final drive gearing RPM and tire diameter.

Hi. Back in Nam I gota ride in an F-4 Phantom so about 1450 MPH. So over twice the speed of sound. The record was 1473 MPH. It could at over 41000 ft per minute.

I got asked if I wanted to fly in an F-18 but when they told me all the pre-flight stuff I had to do, I decided it wasn't worth all the bother.

One of the other guys went and said it was pretty cool....he said the pilot counted down to mach speed and when they passed it, he said it was pretty quiet....
I personally didn't feel like being stuffed into that thing.
