What percent of riders have been 150 mph

Are we talking indicated or GPS verified? My thinking is that in excess of a real 130 give or take is were most folks blood starts fizz. 120 to 130 is generally a high speed confort zone for most. I think one third of the folks who fairly regularly roll on to 120 or 130 have at least once have pushed up to 150 or beyond. Of all motorcyclist with bikes capable I'd say a third have done a speedo indicated 150 or a gps 135 to 142. Somebody mentioned tires and if there not basically new I don't even push 120.

Like Tuf says, track riding exceeds 150 every lap (doesn't even take much of a straight). My unrestricted 2000, with exhaust, PC III, intake, 42t rear spkt, mirrors collapsed, in full tuck, went 178 Zumo speed. It did not feel like it had anything left. Raydog

I hit 162 once, on the 10, going from LA to Phoenix.

I don't think it's any impressive feat. Any joker can jump on a Busa, with the road/conditions/balls, can clutch out and go as fast he/she wants to go. No serious skill-sets required.

I think a impressive feat is taking a beast like the Busa and out handle a good rider with modern 1K in the canyons. Thats a good feeling, but takes some work to do it.

I've been on hyw 172 a couple of times. Then I noticed my Gps said I was going the wrong way. So I turned around and it said 175.

did 128mph on a 2008 victory vison full bagger loaded with a months worth of gear, headed out twards the salt flat race area. once you see the sign in the distance, start slowin down, because the road ENDS! on the Blue Buss my eyeballs start to vibrate at 130mph. havent bounced the tac??? but wound up to 11krpm in 6th!
there are alot of places i can see for up to 8mi. long straight.WHEE!:cheerleader:
there are times i cruze for an hour or so at 100, bursting to 165ish every stright, and sometimes up to 10-20mi at 160-180ish.

SHH DON'T TELL MY WIFE!

Why didn't you run a poll?:poke:

155 on the speedo a few times , only for a short bursts though ,
the law round here also take a dim view of those sort of speeds so i would like to try & keep my license a little longer :rulez::rulez:

I have done 170 or so according to GPS. Honestly I never took my eyes off the road so I didn't know until afterwards. Great speed run 3 am I-95 last years Daytona Bike Week. I WILL NEVER go that fast again...not enough skills should something happen.

Also, I got passed by........ a blown Busa...Geez these kids LOL :)

I've done it. For the last past two summer's since I had my busa I make it a point to lock the tach at 180.

with the 42 tooth sproket it prob didnt have anything left...with the 40 you would have been above limiter range( yes i do know your unrestricted) just saying

What do you guys and gals think the percent of motorcycle riders who have been 150 mph. I would guess given the number of bikes capable of 150 and the riders willing to go that fast it is probably one or two percent.

i think yer waaaay off on the percentages...he11...the busa is noted for being...

"Deceptively Fast"

i remember my 1st entrance onto the interstate aboard Oren and figured i was do'in mid '80's...90 max...then looked down to witness a buck 10 on the speedo and i was like...the happiest dude in the world...and couldn't wait to get out west to see what this puppy would do...and how she'd do it and?..well?...let's just say that 180 feels like the disney monorail!

100%,I believe anyone with a liter or hyperbike has gone over 150mph.Otherwise might as well have a cruiser!

I meant motorcycles and riders overall I mean how many cruisers are sold for every one sportbike not to mention all of the vintage stuff still riding around. There are probably hundreds of thousands of bikes total that can't reach that speed.

interesting question on "how many cruisers vs sportbikes are sold" but he11..i think just about "all" of your 600 class sportbikes break a buck 50...and by a sound margin.

i can't stand 'cruising" ever since i owned my one and only goldwing..in '89...prolly wouldn't mind tool'in a cruiser out too the stampede but...once i got there?...what would be the point?

I don't understand, why would the "limiter" kick in if I had higher gearing(back to a 40t as you suggest)? Also, does my bike have a limiter that I don't know about? On the track I speed shift above 10k rpm constantly and don't remember ever experiencing a "cut out" sensation. Is it possible when I got my bike "race tuned", my racer/mechanic friend bypassed a limiter I've never even knew about?
I don't see any earlier discussion about 1999/2000 rev limiters at all so I just always assumed there was none! Raydog

Ive down about a buck fiddy buck 160..in FLorida and in MD...think when i last looked it was at like 165ish? So whatever that REALLYtranslates to...do that al lot around here:laugh:
