Well... here I go! Gps/radar gun confirmed. 73 honda cb350 topped out 100mph. 96 fzr 600 topped out 146mph. 2001 aprilia rsv mille 168mph. 2002x2 Gsxr 1000's both 175mph with the speedo showing 186mph. 2008 hayabusa 194mph one way and 195mph the other. 09 Gsxr 1000 155 mph before I let out... front end kept coming up! 67 firebird 145mph at 6500rpm. 97 firebird 177mph in 5th gear at 6200 rpm. 1990 383 ls6 powered miata 177mph and climbing 6 times... ran out of road. Other cars have been tested but didnt get over 110 mph due to conditions!

what percentage of bikes in the market are capable of actual 150+ mph ??? Out of that percentage how many do you think have done it... I think the percentage overall is low. There are lots of harleys, cruisers, small cc bikes in the market.

Have done 150 a few times, and 160 On the Busa recently. No details as you never know who might be watching.

I have an 07 I nearly tacked out 5th before letting up because a curve was coming up. Didn't see my top speed but I took the curve at 155 by the speedo before the speedohealer so in reality for the curve around 130 maybe.
Gotta love those long sweepers :cheerleader::thumbsup::cheerleader:

The year was 2005, I "had" a 2005 ltd. gen 1 busa she sure was pretty.

Anyways out in Odessa Tx. where there is nothing but straight roads for miles, there is a location we like to call 9 mile. This was one of the local racing spots, 9 miles of flat straight road that at that time had 1 entrance and nothing on it.

Anyways I borrowed a friends GPS, little yellow thing don't member what brand, stuck it under the hump and down the road I went.

Friends said I went screamin past em like a freakin rocket.. I wasnt standing there so I don't know. I pegged her out shut her down and went back to see the results.

Turns out that 185 indicated on my '05 busa really was only doing 177.

Now im in Dallas there is no where to do that kinda stuff and honestly there is no place with no traffic. So yeah you arent gonna catch me even trying it here.

When I had a stock busa with a full exhuast and a tune I used to break 150MPH+ almost everytime out on it. Now with the turbo I've only done it maybe 4-5 times because I never EVER get to ride and then when I do its almost enjoyable to just cruise around. I think when I can get back into the 10K a year riding then I think I will be going faster and more often

Most posters seem to be ignoring the question but my answer is probably less than 5% of motorcyclists have topped 150 mph. I think we need a little reality check on this forum sometimes.....most bikes won't do over 150 and most riders aren't interested in doing over 150 even if their bike can do it. Our bikes are made for this and our owners are more inclined to do it and thats why we bought our bikes. Litre sport bikes are really the only solid category for this activity as the small displacement bikes take a lot of road to top 150 so you have to first look at how many litre + bikes make up the entire number of bikes sold and go from there. Less than 5% is still my best guess.

+1, my geuss would be a low percentage as well. Something south of 5%. Racers, regular trackday riders, and you guys with your GPS are the ones I'm talking about and they(we) are a minority. Hey, maybe those that have maxed out their speed should be a new, less criminal band of 1%ers! Probably get beat down for that statement. As we know bike speedos read notoriously HIGH the faster you go, and I know from experience that as you get past the 150 mark looking anywhere but straight through that windscreen from a nice, tight tuck is not a good idea. When guys tell me they were maxed out and looking at their speedo I think they're either lying or using poor judgement. At Bonneville I tape over the speedo and only glance at the tach until shifted to 6th. Another thing I've learned is I'm not comfortable riding this bike on the street much. I've been comfortably over 200 on the salt but a buck twenty on a Nevada back road scares the crap outta me. Never know when that Coyote or wild Burro will walk into your path. Also on the street I rarely get to do what I love best which is run that thing up to red line through all 6 gears! Once your addicited to that particular form of crack, it's hard to tamely cruise the streets. Got my trusty SuperHawk for that. Final note: I strongly encourage all of you to TAKE IT TO THE TRACK! For your safety and ours. Once you've felt the warm comfort of a closed course, you probably won't want to ride agressively on the street anymore.

I would think a higher % of Sport, Sport Touring have seen 150+ You Just Gotta Know!
Maybe the next question is, with what regularity do Busa riders see 150+?

On my 100 mile RT commute I most always tap 150+ one direction or the other....over 170+..well that takes a little more open road, probably once a week.

Speedohealer corrected 178 on Gen 1

I have been 150 plus with the state police behind me scared the heck out of me i let off the throttle and she went around me DIDNT PULL ME OVER I WAS SHOCKED.
