Who Rode Today?

Out of curiosity, how/what have you mounted the phone now?
I have always used ram stem mount with their X grip holder and never had an issue with my older iPhones, but this new phone seems to not like vibration as much. I guess I’ll keep it in my pocket, until I can find a better mount that provides more isolation from the engines vibration. I would thing the busa would be the one to cause the problem, not the “couch on wheels” concours14.

Don't know anything about these but did come across it doing some research. It may stove your issue.

Lol, if you could only have one bike between the qBusa or your BMW, which one stays?
Just to clarify this, The Busa is losing the street dominance it had. Part of this is the rise of monster liter bikes but even with the bikes Kawasaki is producing the Busa is just falling behind. I really get why a lot of Busa fanatics are going to Turbos, that's what you have to do to get a Busa to hold it's own on the street these days. So the Busa is still one of the greatest sport-touring bikes ever made, but as a performance leader it's day is quickly vanishing. I frankly resent Suzuki sitting back and letting this happen by abandoning the Hayabusa name and letting it become a once upon a time bike for the history books. It's a shame as all the effort I have put into my Busa has made it a very refined and capable bike. If Suzuki had put half that effort into the new models it would still be a force on the street power pecking order.

As I have gotten older,

Apple is telling you it should be in your pocket for your safety! Lol! (preach brother preach) Ha ha ha. The Garmin has the GPS unit mounted on rubber bushings to prevent this kind of damage. Also Garmin said that the vibrations from the bars can cause pretty significant errors in the GPS readings and calculations. Not sure I ever observed this but they do say the high frequency vibrations (like an engine) will disturb gyros and accelorometers. I didn't know they could do preaenent damage like your phone though. You sure taking a selfie didn't break that camera? Lol!

I like the large size if the Busa and ZX14. They are so stable at any speed and pretty good in the wind too. I do notice more power on the ZX14. I sat on a tried some other bikes like the GSX1000, MT10, and some others. I do like the H2 but it weighs more than the busa and you can have a busa and a ZX14 for the price. We will see what 2021 brings if anything as far as a Busa. I think the ZX14 is done but who knows. We might get another GEN2 Busa in another color for 21. I would not be surprised.

While there was more to your clarification wanted to touch on this point because to many the Busa has been losing dominance since 2006 (the first year of the ZX14). The Gen2 helped, but was still technically behind. So, 14 years later and we are still discussing the loss of street dominance. I think Suzuki is probably relishing on that fact. I do wish they would get off the dime and show us a Gen3 and stop playing around.

Sorry people I type a lot of messages and never finish them. I started talking about why I like the BMW and then switched to the Apple phone without finishing my previous thought. Getting old is a bitch!

I have read the ZX14R is done too as Kawasaki is going to spend their time and money on the H2 platform...

....and I think Suzuki is in trouble financially....they have been less and less competitive for a few years now and have been relying on past glories to stay afloat (my opinion of course).

Their latest bring to the table-the GSX and Katana line are less than cutting edge being left over platforms.

The GSXR which was once the leader is now a distant follower..

If the bell isn't tolling for Suzuki, it is not far away...they'll be back to making looms before we know it.

Suzuki is doing quite well they just aren't in the top of class motorcycle business anymore. They make small displacement bikes for Asian markets like India. They are also back in the car business, or at least car parts. So I'm not sure Suzuki is planning a Gen 3. Seems now they are a souless bottom line industrial machine. I suppose with the bankruptcy so fresh in the board room's minds those radical voices don't carry in the halls of Hamatsu. I get it but it's a sad thing to see them toss in the towel. The only thing that I don't get is continuing the MotoGP effort with no real bikes to sell from those successes. Maybe it is a corporate benny, or maybe a sign that the light has not yet been extinguished.

I was thinking it was the displacement as the big engines are not meeting the EURO restrictions. Then I was thinking the biggest engines are 1800+ big V-Twins so how are they making it. Then I did the math: 1800 x 4000 Rpm is 7.2 million cc displacement per minute. 1340 x 10,500 rpm = 14.1 million cc displacement. So a 1340 cc engine could only turn about 5,373 rpm to equal the output of an 1800 running full tilt at 4K rpm. That might be ok torque wise but only 60-90 hp.

I'm thinking they are treading water and that's about it.

Their car line is diminished to almost nothing (at least here in North America. They have been centralizing their bike dealerships to large urban centers too, all the satellite dealerships are gone-there's a sign of less than prosperity. They have even stopped providing motors to the snowmobiles they used to-Kawasaki took that over.

......and I hope I'm wrong and Suzuki is taking a "strategic pause" to really wow us...

I'm riding this square box today as the humidex is off the charts (44'C) outside and I don't want to subject myself to sweating uncontrollably with all that gear on....

I looked at Suzuki last year and they were doing pretty well. They weren't selling cars but feeding parts to Indian manufacturers. They were making a ton of money. Then I just looked and apparently the Indian market has tanked.

I wonder if that’s why my “car specific” GPS loses signal and acts stupid sometimes. I did get one of those fancy radar detector mounts with rubber bushings, but that thing vibrates like hell too. As for the selfie, no, I had not taken any recently.

A buddy of mine who is big into the stock market checked them out for something to do one day and told me they aren't trading very well and haven't for some time.

274 Smiles today thru the Sequoia NF and the Kings Canyon/Sequoia NPs. Got up to 7,335’ and although HOT down below, the weather was spectacular! I’ll save any narrative for later if anyone’s interested. I’m bushed. Despite the dozens of neck wrecking downhill 1st gear 10 mph hairpins up high, at least a hundred + miles to get there and back were in triple digits in 98 degree sun! Wore me out. Apparently wore out my PR too.View attachment 1623602View attachment 1623603View attachment 1623604View attachment 1623605View attachment 1623606View attachment 1623607View attachment 1623608View attachment 1623609View attachment 1623610View attachment 1623611View attachment 1623612View attachment 1623613View attachment 1623614View attachment 1623615View attachment 1623616View attachment 1623617View attachment 1623618
