Who Rode Today?

I recently rode part of the Cal coast hiway but since I moved, the coast @ Monterey (the closest) is about 160 miles away, all on hot straight flat roads. As good as I have it around here I still miss the coastal air. Bad air quality here with smoke in the air due to the fires north and south of me.

Took the LE for a spirited ride today, didn’t really stop for photos except the grounded down parts.

Accidentally scraped the stator protector and then ruined it 10mins later.

No I didn’t crash, merely leant over a tad far.

Back out in the cut today too, about 10 passes each direction.
It's over a half mile
I rode a few 2' and 3' standups over a 1/4 mile, but am still iffy on swinging it up to 10 and 11 o'clock, I get there and let it back down, then don't have the throttle to pull it back up, and have to start again.
Of course it's me not the bike, but the thing gained 40hp, so it's twitchy high in the air unless you're smooth with it...which I am not again yet...yet.
This bastard wants to spin and bite over bumps on the back tire.
I nailed it at 4k and it spun and pulled the front...it really starts to get nasty in 1st gear at 6k, and it's in the power at 9k...right in a good balance, as said, twitchy.
This is a rough road too, as you can kinda see, you really have to relax and let the bike dance and wobble under you.
Cool thing is if you can walk wheelies here, you can do them anywhere.
Pulling them on the highway is a breeze after riding here, lol.

All the shine you see on the road is the same stuff tar snakes are made of, so it can be slippery.
Just adds to it.
Looks narrow and that surface sugary , gravelly even...Six , I guess you know this road bro , but take care , and if you are getting too sqirrelly on the back wheel , allow yourself plenty of recovery leeway , personally I wouldn't even think to medium / high speed wheelie on that section of road ........

Well bro , I see you have had too much fun today , that kickstand .... ouchie wa wa ....
Well , nobody can say you are babying that 220bhp LE of yours , probably hard to find a witness that can keep up when you gas it , so battle scars tells the story .

It's not bad Toad, or maybe it is.
There's no loose gravel on it, but the surface is gravel glued down with tar...so it's slick here and grips there.
We've brought many a rider here over the years. Most cry and say "you can't ride wheelies....hereeee" as we wheelie by, lmao
All in what you're used to I guess.
Coming up on dirtbikes helps, and that we rode sportbikes offroad too, anywhere ground clearance allows, traction be damnded.
All the bumps, tar, critters(4 deer and a black bear crossed in front of me on the way back) but it beats the heck out of traffic, and it never bothered us.
I imagine you guys are much the same, as it seems most everything in Oz is poisonous and/or wants to eat you...but that's just normal life to you guys, lol.
And as said, if you can ride them out here, it just makes them Easy on smooth roads.

All good bro , I guess we gets used to what we got available , and just get on with it . I also agree , and think the motorcross / dirtbike background adds to that mindset , a lot of real good 'free stylers' I know have dirt roots .
Those critters you are dealing with when on rides , In that respect , we both got plenty to watch out for , but bro , over here we aint got Bears !! lol

Woke up to smoky skies with ash and soot on everything despite the fires being NE and SE of me by miles and miles. Weather/air quality report said to head west so I hopped on the Busa and took off. I managed a west then north then east and back south loop but the air was just barely better to the west. This was the view to the north atop (the) hiway. Before and today

Nice day started off at 10deg maxed 20 back down to 12 , had a friendly chat to cop in a parked line of traffic, encouraged us to get ahead of the queue and get it behind us, also didn't want to u turn in front of us if he had to chase someone the other way. Took his advice and see ya later :)

The bears aren't normally agressive, and he stopped in the middle of the road in front of me, then walked into the woods as I got closer, and was only about 200-250 lbs.
I pulled up and stopped and he just sat there, and eventually turned and walked away.
I would've got a kick out of it if he tried to chase me. On my drz, he Might have gotten close, on the gsxr1k...not a chance, lmao.

Did 330 miles yesterday.
About 270 miles of Blue Ridge Parkway.
The BRP runs ridge lines of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Va, and the BRmtns extend into WVA.
They are less than 30 minutes away and highly visible all around the area I live in.
Great riding.
Basically got on the BRP, rode 135 miles NE, got gas and food and turned around.
Temps in the high 60's to mid 80's with low humidity, and very little traffic.
Between 2300'-3000' elavation most of the way.
Saw at least a dozen sportbikes throughout the day(I was suprised) unfortunately all going the other way, and what I think was an R1M.
I need a go-pro that I can take screenshots from the video.
Yesterday was the first time I ever put my phone in the Ram Mount he has on the bike. So it was easy to pull over, grab the phone and take pictures without taking a glove off and reaching in a pocket for it(genius I know, I came up with this brilliant idea after I turned around, lmao).
I have several pictures to post.
I wish I could get some of the sheer drops on the roadside, but it's hard when there's nowhere to stop, lol.

.
If you are taking the pics dude we are never going to get to see the massive wheelies! You should not be allowed to ride without a chase photographer. Do you ever ride the back of the dragon? Pretty good ride, but the dragon is better maintained.

I've got that covered.
Someone ready to film when I'm ready.
I will also set my phone in a tree at the spot with the video running...once I'm ready. As said, gained 40whp on this bike, and I'm trying to get smooth with it again.
I won't post my practice, I'll wait until it looks good again.
Also nothing other than a couple unintentional power wheelies yesterday.
Just cruising.
But they're coming, I'll make good on it.

I have yet to make it to the Dragon, but will get to that area eventually, maybe even crash a Busa bash...

The tunnel is about 100 yards long with a slight curve.
Met 2 HD full dressers in the middle as soon as I went back through(weekend warriors, lol).
They waved, I let the full M4 shorty sing at 10 grand..looked like it scared the hell out of the 2nd guy, lmao
