Who Rode Today?

Took one of the old girls out for a little squirt today, needed to clean the cob webs out so back roads it was. Sounded like heaven with the Mikuni carbs and Yoshimura cyclone exhaust.

Followed it up with a ride on the KTM for lunch.

Love those old Gixxers...I had a red and black '85 750F that came from Suzuki ready to race in the superbike series...it was a great bike (should have kept it).

There was something special about the old bikes...they had a sort of soul that's missing in modern bikes...same as what happened to cars and trucks...

I think you may be romanticising the old era just a little there Bill lol.
For me, the old bikes were just that.. old bikes. They were temperamental, ill handling, slow braking, over powered for the chassis and all we could get at the time!
But they are special to us now, we are nostalgic creatures to a fault… but I love my old Busa, I couldn’t part with it now.

Rode 157 miles today on the busa. I did not get off the bike at all, so no pics. I had forgotten how smooth and fast she is. It was a nice morning.
Did you ride alone or with buddies?
Any shenanigans you may care to mention? lol.
Please try to take pics for us here, we lurrrrrv pics!!!
It's late fall here now, but this morning (6.30am right now) it's 13degC with a light Nor'wester blowing and will reach 19degC today . . . our winters have bveen mild lately so plenty of riding oportunities for me.
It's never winter in FLA I've heard lol.

95% of the time I ride alone. I took it easy since it had been close to 2 years since I had been on the busa and I was running on new tires too. Is getting warm here and killed some bugs with nose fairing and helmet. Also found out my SENA 10c pro won’t turn on, even though, I fully charged it the night before.
On another note, the 5th to 6th false neutral keeps showing it’s ugly face and it gets on my nerves. Is driving my OCD crazy. :banghead:

Remember, in their day, these bikes were cutting edge and honestly, if I still had my old Gixxer, I'd probably not bother with the Bumblebee very much...

I never had any temperamental issues with that old Gixxer and it handled like it was on rails....like all bikes it had to be set up properly. It was light, fast and did pretty well for it's day.

Set the suspension up and a good set of tires and brake pads and that old bike would still turn pretty good lap times-it doesn't know it's obsolete.

50 mile cruise through the country this evening

After spending the day on my tractor, I got out on the Bumblebee for a short ride after supper.

Whilst out on a back country road, I was minding my own business and idling along enjoying the day when a bike came flying up behind me, it was an HD of some sort with 2 square headlights and a bat wing fairing.

I guess the guy wanted to have a go at my bike and I so I obliged, dropped a gear and disappeared...I could hear him coming on the throttle (it was a really loud bike) but it soon faded out along with his headlights.

It felt kind of good to do that....it was the first time of the season that I opened it up a little and it certainly didn't disappoint, I sure love that quickshifter...

Probably some guy who thought he had a ‘fast’ Harley.

They guy we bought our dyno from builds race harleys and while I know they can't hang with our bikes for any length of time what he did is real impressive in the qtr mile. I'll see if I can find any videos of his bike at the track, I think the band of the shop is Michigan baggers racing. He is a pretty cool guy as well as a h3ll of a builder.

What a day…WHAT A LOVELY DAY! I put in a 175 mile loop thru the Park today. Weather was perfect, skies were blue, roads were clean and the traffic was nothing to care about. Rode in their southern (my) entrance on hiway 41 which turns into Wawona Rd. inside the park. On my way I pass thru a lil town called Oakhurst and from there to the park is about 15 miles of some great curves. A few miles before the park is a community called Fish Camp and it’s at 5,000’. Dropping into the park it’s about 4,000’ then 5 and finally 6,192’ on the route I took. Cruised around the valley floor that’s surrounded by sheer rock face mountains with the famed climber’s rock called El Capitan on the north side. After enjoying the river banks I took 120 to the north to leave the park. The Tioga Pass is supposed to open in a week or so. Hiway 120 north out of the park is outstanding with big round sweepers as you descend the hill. Slight breeze, about 76 degrees and a WOT! Then I rode thru Greely Hill to hiway

49 and up the Golden Chain hiway home. I want to head over the mountain but I’m waiting on the Tioga to open. I don’t see that side of the park often enough.

70+mile cruise
Out to the stunt spot, knocked a little rust off.
The sharp topped mountain in the center is
SharpTop(imagine that, lol) at the Peaks of Otter, on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Bedford Va, it's about 30-35 miles out, and I ride and hike there often.

That stretch of road looks like good deer "pop out" area with the tree line so close in..

They're everywhere.
I usually don't even count how many I see.
Not to mention how many cross in front of me, including rabbits, squirrels, possums, racoons, another bear a couple weeks ago, oh...and 2 local dogs that love to chase cars.
lol
I pay no attention to it, and figure 2 deer strikes in 27 years, with neither putting me down is pretty good.

Passed a friend of mine on his new CRF300 dual sport.
We swapped bikes in the middle of the road, lol, and I was really impressed with it...all things considered.
I was actually going to jump a big ditch on it too, but figured I'de let him be the first to crash it...I'll wait til the new wears off before I do, lol.

I dodged a few squirrels, two turkeys and two snakes today. One snake was about 3-4’ long and haulin azz! The other, miles away was only a foot long. That one seemed to be having a harder time crossing the pavement. Some cars were coming the other way a couple miles later that probably got the lil one. No deer today but it was bright sun and mid to afternoon temps. Have yet to see a live bear though.
