Who Rode Today?

I got in 135 miles today and met a nice couple in their 60s on a US tour. Their loaded BMW had German license plates and they said they were heading east to NY where they would fly home and ship their bike back. Next stop would be Vegas and then the Grand Canyon. Nice couple but they barely spoke English relying on an App on their phone for translation. Met them at the top of the Golden Chain highway.

Hi. I went to my daughters house in RI to day. I took her to a parking lot to watch her ride. She did very good so she went on the road and I was behind her and she did it all perfect. In the lot I had her do wide open 1st,2nd and 3rd gear to a panic stop. She passed with flying colors. Next time we go I will have her do avoiding at hard braking. I will have her take an advanced riding course too. I will take it with her too. I want to see of I have picked any bad habits over the years and it may be fun. I really would like to do it on the turbo busa. I may tell him that the turbo is my 1st bike.

I was going to ride the Busa on Saturday but enddd up having a few mates over and milling around the garage, playing with my mates GSXR1100K… my mission, is to resurrect it after 10 years of sitting.
Okay…. It’s not gonna be a walk in the park, fuel system is in a bad way.

I did the same when my daughter began riding her own bike, a cream puff SV650 with just 3,000 miles on it. When I lived in San Jose there was a huge parking lot for a county building that was empty on the weekends. She and my son had ridden on the back of my bikes for years but she was the first to get her own bike. After a few hours in that empty lot running all the scenarios of riding with traffic, she did very well too. We went on rides up the coast of CA, thru the giant redwoods, thru Yosemite and lots of miles in the mountains north of Santa Cruz. Her time constraints increased as she progressed in her profession and eventually sold it. There were five bikes in my garage at the time or I would’ve kept it.

Living in London, how long does it take you to get to these kinds of roads?
I live in Dagenham East of London (near the Ford engine plant) so to get into the nice roads in Essex is about 25 -30 minutes,or I can go into Kent which is about the same time
I'm trying to plan a road trip into Wales to ride the Top gear road over the mountains or go over to France to ride the coast rode to Boulogne sir mer

Yeah, it sucks. I have just on an hour riding freeways and such to get out of the city before I hit any decent roads..
But I'm starting to wonder if it's all worth it. Governments and local councils in my state are starting to reduce speed limits on country roads to 80kph - 49/50 mph. That's speed limit on so many country roads now that I'm almost considering selling the Busa.

I've started seeing the same thing here in the UK ,most country lanes are national limit which is 60mph but in some areas now are 50-40 mph and on one of my favourite roads has gone to 30 mph which is ridiculous, they are also trialling noise detection monitor's,which pick up you registration and noise level and you get a penalty notice .How they work exactly I don't know but they are taking all the fun away

Hi. Same here 1 country road that goes for miles throught woods the limit is 25 MPH and cops are always around.

Here the primary speed limit is 80kms/hr on the back roads and the government just lowered the speed for getting dinged for "street racing" to 40 kms/hr over the limit....

If you get caught say going 120kms/hr on a back road (speed limit 80 kms/hr), you lose your license for 60 days, get your vehicle seized and when you go to court, you could lose your license for a year and face up to a $10,000 fine.

Same goes on the main hiways....more and more high speed chases are happening as a result.

I’ll buy it lol.

Same is happening up here unfortunately.

I live in the country, thankfully. Takes me almost an hour to get to a freeway! All the two lanes are posted 55 mph but I utilize my radar detector to keep safe. Montana is the only state that I’m aware of that has some two lanes posted with 70 mph limits. Some sections of the freeways here are posted at 70 mph and the CHP are pretty easy on speeders in unincorporated areas.

Sth Oz is also same , reduced speeds is the governments answer to their neglect of road maintenance and general upkeep . Charge us a fuel tax for it though , but only a small percentage ever gets used on roads where it is needed .
Also , my states recently departed (voted out ) state government , in its desperation to cling to power , did some deals with minor parties and introduced massive speed fines for even relatively minor infringements .

Hi. I think the government wants to keep us in small groups so they can control is easier. They do not want us to have cars.

Careful Mike . . you'll get labelled a 'conspiracy theorist' with any anti-government talk like that . . . even if the 'conspiracies' are actually proved to be fact.
Me, I just say it how it is, and no doubt you do to lol!
There's no doubt the governments (front organizations) of this global cabal-new world order are in lock-step with all the rules and regulations they are tightening up on, but shhhhhhhhhh . . . careful, they're listening. The people calling the shots are never elected, they are above the rules.

Hi. And yes you are so so correct.

Another 121 miles today before starting night shifts at work. Killed about 1000 bugs. No stops, except to take a picture of my odometer becasue I looked down and happened to notice it was about to roll to 18k miles.

Bugs!
Ha!
Wait til I get out again...I'll show you bugs, lol.
I carry a wet rag in a ziploc bag to clean them off during my rides.
There quickly get to be so many bugs on my shield, that I literally cannot see through it.
Dusk is the worst time, and anywhere near water.

I kept wiping the ones that got on my visor off with my glove as they hit, because they blocked my view too much, but these I couldn’t see until I took the helmet off. My jacket is covered and even my boots have a couple. I had my more breathable gloves today and a big bug hit my right hand finger and it hurt like hell. That’s why I like my gauntlet style leather gloves better, but is getting pretty hot down here to wear leather jacket and gloves, so textile gear it is for me until it cools down again.
