Who Rode Today?

I cranked my 03 gsxr1k and let it run for the week/disturb the peace.
I let it idle for 5-10, give it few revs, keep the battery alive, soot the plugs, lol.
My Ali-Express slip-on was supposed to have been here almost 2 weeks ago.
I'm still not ready to start working on this bike yet(still collecting parts and working on others), but it will be nice to quiet it down.
I'll get a real exhaust once the rest is done.

Took my orange crush out this afternoon... chilly 3*C but sunny. Heated vest and grips FTW!

Took her out for a 200 plus mile ride and stopped at checker’s to have a burger for lunch with the little guys in the picture. My day got “interesting” when she shutdown while going 70mph on the highway. Looked down and didn’t see anything weird so hit the button and she fired right up but FI light was flashing. Got off the highway and stopped at a red light but she stalled again when light turned green and I almost dumped it. Cycled the key and she fired up again but light still flashing. Limped to cousin’s house because it was close. She stalled and that was it. Put jumper on and got code c41. Fuel pump isn’t getting voltage, but fuse is good and relay makes its clicking sound. Removed power commander and no difference. Found a piece of wire in my toolkit I carry and decided to hard wire the pump to ride the 30mins to get her home. I’m so bummed right now. She had never let me down like this since I bought her in 2011.

That could still be the pump itself, which you know is common.
And 12 years, and you made to a safe stop, it could be alot worse.
Thank God it wasn't.

I’m thankful that she broke down at the perfect time. I decided to troubleshoot from the pump back. Unplugged the pump and turned the key and got no power on the connector. I then moved to the relay and I have 12v on the O/W wire, 12V on the R/BL and get ground on the Y/B which energizes the coil and makes the relay click on for a few seconds and then off, as it should. Problem is that the Y/R going to the pump/injectors never sees 12v. Is like the relay is clicking but is not closing the circuit and allowing the 12v on the R/BL to feed the Y/R and reach the pump, as it should. Sucks that these relays are not readily available at auto parts stores. Took today and tomorrow off hoping to put some good miles on her, but looks like God had other plans for me.

Sorry to hear of your shutdown. And that reminds me that I have to replace the wire I keep in my toolkit. I gave it to a guy who had low sided on hiway 1 and ruined his kickstand switch. It got him started and on his way.
Definitely replace the wire and give your toolkit a once over. It had been so long since I had been in my tool bag that I didn’t even remember what I had in there. I need to replenish my tire plug kit I got from @pashnit with more mushroom plugs. I ordered a pack awhile ago and forgot them in my toolbox at home.

I have a full kit for both bikes. I don’t wanna be caught out even if I’m close to civilization. I get new sticky worms every year, the short fat orange ones. I have four successful repairs with them over the years.

I had a flat on the DR650 and learned that one toolkit for all bikes was a bad idea (toolkit was on the busa sitting in the garage while I was stranded with no tools), so I made one for each bike as well and they never separate from the bikes.
Never used those plugs but I do carry worms now because, I had a flat that I was not able to get to stop leaking when I used a mushroom plug so now carry both types.

I should mention too that I carry excellent towing service when all else fails. I had a puncture south of Atomic City WA one year on tour on my 79 CBX. The hole was big enough to stick a pencil through. The nearest replacement tire was 106 miles away in Idaho! They sent a flatbed to get me to Atomic City, about 240 miles for them, 65 for me and the bike, and another from Idaho to get me to a tire shop, 212 miles for the flatbed, 106 more miles for me and the bike. Their deal is that they’ll tow whatever I’m riding or driving to wherever I have to go to get repaired, with no excess mileage charges. Must have cost them a bundle. My annual fee was $79 that year. It’s only $110 or so this year. It’s called RVRoadhelp backed by Allstate but better than the road service included in a regular insurance policy. Good service.

That sure sounds like an amazing roadside service package. I only have the regular service offered through my insurance. Do you have to be insured by Allstate to have access to purchasing that service? Might have to look into that plan. I appreciate the info.

I have CAA plus which I guess is similar to AAA, I have the motorcycle package so if I call and tell them I'm on my bike they ensure the tow vehicle is equipped to look after a motorcycle.

I never stray too far from home these days so it is my best thing to have...

You oughta be able to run and push that bike home if it breaks down...gettin soft in your old age ay?
lmao

I rode 248 miles Saturday with Perigrine Keith and his group up in central Florida, lots of curves for Florida, had a great time! Got my bike to a very comfortable riding machine, Heli ba, drop pegs, larger pegs, taller windscreen screen, upgraded seat, GoPro, GPS, Cortech tank bag, Cortech tail bag when needed, wide view mirrors. Love my all day rides. Love my gen 3.
