Who Rode Today?

I didn't ride but did see my first Gen 3 in the wild....a white and blue one...all stock....

I must say the view from the rear on the road that tail sure is wide and stock exhaust look absolutely huge...

The tail and signal lights are bright and clear though....I like those...

Coming down the road, the bike has a real presence and was instantly recognizable and it looked great.

My wife told me I should follow him and talk bikes but we were on a mission already.....I'm sure I'll see it around as it appeared to have veteran's plates so is someone local....

It's nice to see another Hayabusa out there....

I got out for a ride on the 'ol Bumblebitch and so far so good, it's still in dealer mode and still showing C00....

Took it out to the country....if it quit there, I'd kick it into the ditch, open the gas cap, light it and thumb my way home....

...sounds like you really liked that gen3 you saw the other day...

Did my usual Vancouver - Whistler - Lillooet run. I knew it would be sunny all the way so let's bring the damn camera.
(the Org Boys expect pics!)

Snow? Fakk, I forgot to bring my skis.

Lynx Cafe in Pemberton for breakfast. Great food!
The first words the guy said wasn't "Good morning" or "What would you like to order?"
It was "What does your kanji mean?"
:)

Another lake. Forgot my fishin' rod.

Niiiice, what a clear calm lake. Water is too cold from all the snow melt. The Sierras are raining down their snowmelt into the many waterfalls in and around the Park. Rivers are flowing fast and the lakes are full. Now, we’re just worrying about forest fires as it’s been in the triple digits for weeks.

I got out for a short ride today.....

I turned onto the country road and was just below the speed limit when I saw a copper running speed control...

I noted a black SUV was coming up on my six very fast........as I passed by the cop he gave me thumbs up and turned on his lights to nab the SUV behind me.....I looked back and saw the SUV pulled over.

I went on an hour or so ride and came back the same route and I saw the same cop with someone pulled over again....

I walk this county road a lot and have always noticed people go far too fast on it.....so it's nice to see a speed control once in a while.

Last week, a digital radar trailer was set up about 3 miles from my house.
It's only a double digit(99mph max)
and as far as anyone knows, it still just displays your speed, it doesn't have cameras(I don't think those are legal yet in the mobile trailers in this area).
Now these have been around for as long as I can remember(I've made a couple stick on 99 years ago, the old ones would error and stay that way until someone reset them, lmao) but they are Always in towns or cities and owned by those independent police departments.
Or, the State Police, but I've Never seen one in a county...anywhere within hours and hours of here.
It's also in an area where there is little traffic, and if anyone is speeding, it's just one idiot, and a deputy will eventually ticket them and that will be that.
So, strange to see, and I need to look up the Radar speed display trailors, and camera laws.
If that passes they'll have mobile revenue trailors everywhere....

Our county has these radar speed displays hard mounted....the road I walk on and the cop was running radar is a 50km/hr zone and while walking I've not seen many vehicles anywhere near 50 kms/hr and a few over 90kms/hr...

the "so what" of that is here in our province, if you are caught going 40 kms/hr over the speed limit in areas that are 80 kms/hr or less, you lose your license, get your vehicle impounded and face a huge fine....in areas 90 kms/hr or over it is 50 kms/hr over the limit..

I know the radar display is digitally linked and this data is sent to the police who monitor speeds and times to know the best times to run speed control enforcement....

Them monitoring it live, and sending patrol there when it looks hot makes sense, and skates alot of other laws.
It's even more strange as to where this one is too.
It's on the sidie of a slightly curved curved narrow 2 lane, less than quarter mile, which there has a blind hill, and then a clear but curved quarter mile before a sharp 90° left, and houses and fields(with ditches you dont want to go in) along both sides...Nobody speeds through there.
Maybe the odd 55mph, as it's a 45mph zone, but it's a rare place most don't speed, either because they're bad drivers and can't, or are good drivers, and know it would be dangerous(some backing out of driveway, or topping a blind hill to find whatever in the road).
Anyway, just a strange place for a shiny new and expensive contraption.
But, no one ever accused some of these guys of making the best decisions either, lol

The Park finally opened the Tioga pass road so I took a lil ride to the Tenaya lake @ 9,000’. 74 degrees up top and 104 @ 2,300’. Nice ride despite the traffic. More coming from the east as it’s the only entrance. There are three western side entrances. The Merced river was white water noisy. I wish I could post the short video of the rushing river sounds.

I got in a nice 180 mile loop around Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake SE of here. Highest elevation I crossed was just under 8,000’, the Tamarack Ridge. Beautiful weather, clean two lanes and the ‘gwine to the lake boat pullers‘ weren’t much of a problem for a bike. The first section of roads from my place is through several lil communities but no towns, nearly all corners. Then comes the gradual uphill climb. Brand new four lanes, 2 up and 2 down with long straights and loooong sweepers! Miles of them! I prefer the uphill climb vs the downhill ride back down. My speeds are the same but there’s something about haulin azz downhill around huge sweepers, left and right above 100 mph that makes me worry. :) Then comes the very tight left right left right, hairpins and switchback sections. Very slow going with or without traffic but not for very long. First comes Shaver Lake. As you can see it’s filled to the brim against the dam. About 18 miles up and farther east is Huntington Lake. Also beautiful two lanes thru the tall trees. The water was high in Huntington Lake too. I parked near one of them where the road turns into a one lane if you want to go that way. I didn’t this time. It has two dams. You can barely see the top of it across the lake in one of the pics. Gorgeous area. And only $21.63 for 4.789 gallons of 89 octane. That’s just under 38mpg for 180 Smiles on two wheels. Took less than five hours. Really clears the head.

After the Dr gave me the long face I took a lil 158 mile loop around some familiar roads. Remember this shot of the lake during our drought? Here’s what it looked like today.

This is the Merced river that empties out of Yosemite. In the six years I’ve ridden past it I’ve never seen it this high. Right at the bottom of the pic where the water meets the shore (used) to be a rwo tire track dirt road ending underneath the bridge. I road on it once clear to the bridge.

Kinda hard to believe that in November this will be five years old. Mileage ending today was 25,777. That also means I haven’t been on a CBX for five years too. I bought the Z about three months after selling my last CBX.

182 Smiles today thru the W park gate and left thru the N gate. The sweepers leaving the park are incredible. Perfect pavement, nothing technical just loooong lefts and loooong rights. 50 60 70+ doesn’t really matter, just lean a lil more. Didn’t ride thru the valley floor as the park was very crowded. I seldom go on the weekends but I took a chance. Had to cut in line of about a mile of cars lined up to enter. Also got ahead of a couple dozens patched Kutte wearing Harley riders. One female rider was on a lavender colored VRod. Their only gear were helmets and boots. Rode thru this lil hamlet again. Poor Buzz….oh, check out the differences in the bark on these trees growing a few feet apart.
