Who Rode Today?

182 Smiles today thru the W park gate and left thru the N gate. The sweepers leaving the park are incredible. Perfect pavement, nothing technical just loooong lefts and loooong rights. 50 60 70+ doesn’t really matter, just lean a lil more. Didn’t ride thru the valley floor as the park was very crowded. I seldom go on the weekends but I took a chance. Had to cut in line of about a mile of cars lined up to enter. Also got ahead of a couple dozens patched Kutte wearing Harley riders. One female rider was on a lavender colored VRod. Their only gear were helmets and boots. Rode thru this lil hamlet again. Poor Buzz….oh, check out the differences in the bark on these trees growing a few feet apart.

You live in a beautiful part of the world

You live in a beautiful part of the world

Thanks, I’m fortunate to live so close to three National parks and several State parks and national forests.

Then there’s the Sierra Nevada mountain range just up the road. I’m 59 miles from this vantage point in the Sierra foothills. Today I rode from north to south (the hilltop vantage point). Stop by if you make it over. I have two bikes. My friend from Wales just returned home from a visit. He was born here but moved to the Cambridge area for work years ago and retired in Wales. Sadly he doesn’t ride anymore. Used to have a Bonney bobber. At 18 he rode a CB350 Honda from San Antonio TX to Northern California. Crazy!

Sunday Evening I got home from a 10 day bike trip to Sturgis for 4 days then did some more twisties riding on the way home through Wyoming and Montana. Overall on the trip put 4543 KM (2823 miles) on my Gen 3

Here a few from my travels, met up with friend Bill on his Connie in Saskatoon. Then headed south and met Spudley and his wife for 4 nights in Sturgis. Rode Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devils Tower also walked around Sturgis and Deadwood. Leaving Sturgis with Bill we rode Bighorn Canyon enroute to Cody, WY. Then next day headed north through Chief Joseph Scenic Byway onway to north Yellowstone entrance. Rode through park to Old Faithful Then headed north through West Yellowstone to Great Falls, MT for couple nights before heading back home.

I rode today. I did a 68.3 mile loop in 2:23. Last weekend I began using MyRide on the iPhone. It seems to accurately map my path while the first app I tried had completely lost its way. Unfortunately the software’s icon says “Yamaha”, ergo the lowest of the low. It outputs a GPX file. On Linux I found PruneGPX to open it and view the map. I am debating creating an account to let the software save these rides.

I noticed that as I use the brake then grip the throttle again the throttle tube pulls in slightly and clicks, it has some movement on the bar. Is this normal?

Sorry no pictures. There is one awesome spot but a sign warning to not park and I am a Goody Two-shoes.

I got out on the "ol beastie for a couple hours...it ran fine and threw no codes which is comforting...it may have been the Bazzaz acting up the whole time....I recall back even a few years ago where it would sometimes act up...

While in my travels I managed to pick up a very noisy newer R6....at the first stop we came to he came up beside me and looked over the Bumblebee....he said he was thinking of running me but then saw the words "Hayabusa" on the side and thought he had better not make a fool of himself....I said he'd win because it would be a one man race as I'm too old to play like that anymore and might break a hip or something.....he laughed and took off....

I stopped by the waterfront and took a shot with a Jon-boat and some huge beams hewn from the trees in the area some 150 yrs ago or so. Most of the waterfront was made from sawdust as there would be millions of trees processed right there...

There are a few "Lumber Baron" homes still in the area although very few are still single family dwellings....but many still have the wrought iron and stone fences around them with the initials of the family on the pillar stones flanking the entrance to the walkway...
