Who Rode Today?

Man. I thought you knew about a cheap Endoscope in the intake horn. I sure as he77 wouldn't go in there unless it was needed. It's a stupid amount of work to change an air filter.

On better news. Now you can see your speakers. Lol.

The high beams are a biotch to change to LEDs. I'm at 23K. I'm gonna burn my factories for now.

On the right side down by the blank panel, is the tap point for a gear position display if you're so inclined. It's also a popular place for an Ameter. I like to know my charging system status.

And while you're in there. Pull the rear wheel and lube up the drive splines in the hub. And check your cushes. Easy to miss the rear stuff.

Thanks, I will check all that out.
The ameter idea is good too.
And I already ordered a K&N air filter(just so I can clean and reuse it).
I like going through used bikes to know what I have, and, the steering bearings are shot anyway, so All that stuff had to come off to get to it, from there, it was 4 bolts and the screws in the filter lid to get the filter out.
An 'I was there anyway' deal.
But, now that I've done it once, next time will be quick, it is designed pretty well.

The center stand thing kicked my ass at first. It's all about technique. My problem that kept me stumped was moving the bike to center. I kept thinking/fearing it was going to go too far over and tip over and I couldn't stop it. Turns out I never was getting it center point. Man I hurt my back, got sore shoulders, and blisters.

Then I just let my center stand do it's job. Extend it down tilt the bike, the center stand will not let it tip over too far. And then push down and pull up.

Now I felt stupid making it so hard to do. Now I can get it up on center stand in one movement, less than 10 seconds. Yeah I felt pretty dumb after I found how easy it was.

They are just so big you can't see what you're doing. You get the feel eventually.

Ok, so I got it on the center stand.
Your technique is spot on, but when my 172 lb ass gets it almmost on it, wow...my technique needs work.
Now I need to rig something to hold the rear down, I was hoping it woupd tip either way.
I really don't want to put it on my lift and strap it down either.
Oh well, I'll sort that out.
Thanks

I got out for a quick spin between cutting grass.....

I stopped at a store and when I came out I saw a young couple going towards my bike and the fellow was saying to his lady..."what the hell IS this thing?, it looks like a rocket"

AS I was walking up to it the young guy asked me if this was my bike and I said yes....he asked what it was so I told him....first he said he had never heard of a 'Yoshimura" bike before....I kind of forgot I put decals on the side fairings....

He then said his buddy has a Mustang GT that is really fast and asked me if this bike was fast or did it just look fast...I told him it's quick enough but not in the same league as a Mustang GT.....he then went into the bragging about his buddy's Mustang.....I nodded and smiled..

His lady was a very pretty young lady with a very nice figure, she smiled and had about 3 teeth and they were as brown as brown can get so that told me she was probably a meth-head....

My dad stays on his Harley when putting it on the center stand, but IDK if that's possible for you since this is a taller bike. On his Harley there is a handle/frame piece on the back left(?) of the seats he can grab with a hand, one foot on the center stand and the other on the ground...push up and pull back. It's a bear for sure!

In other news, I got 1 day of rainless weather so rode to work. I've been looking for a Sycamore sapling to transplant into my yard and my mom saw one growing in the gutter at her work! Threw it in my jacket and we'll see if it survives the weeds of my yard LOL

No way that I could get the GW on the center stand while I'm on it either, lol.
I only had to get it on it now so I can replace the steering bearings(and fork seals because I'm already there).
Once that's done, I probably won't use it again until I need tires.
But, I may try it again a few times once it's back outside, lol
And, cool find on the tree.

I use the C/S about half the time! I'm still tweaking the bike. So ergos are best when in riding position.

And believe it or not, but because of her size, on the side stand her phat arse takes up more garage space. Doesn't seem like it would, but it does. It's a good foot plus of walk past her space difference.

Yeah, I could see that...but it is pretty useful at the moment
lol

I still have to install new steering bearings, reassamble forks, remove front tire and front wheel bearings, clean calipers, put new pads in, and then it can start going back together.
Hopefully get that done tomorrow
I ordered four 5.5" speakers from WingStuff, got the used stock pegs on.
I have to look up the specs, but I think these are aftermarket fork spring too.

I keep finding more mods too.
It has these wheel balancers(rear too).
And bar risers, which is cool, because I'll like the bars better without them.

The balancers I believe are Centramatics. Nice upgrade.

Man does this look pretty familiar. My center timing cover had a sand abrasion strip in the middle. 1: You can paint it, but the paint has to be compatible. Not knowing this I just bought color matched enamel. Big mistake. Made more work undoing that mess. And don't remove that cover unless you get the replacement gasket. It's wet (oil) in there.

Also if you are going to do an Ammeter in, do it now. The pickup connector you have to get to is on the right side of that cover as you face the bike.

Bleed/flush clutch. The slave is dead center in frame and way easier to do with front removed.

Bleed the brakes. And to do that, the anti dive plunger has to be decoupled. And bleeding requires a specific order as both the front and rears are linked and share fluid. There was a brake recall done for both front and rear brake cylinders. Call Honda to see if it was done. There were actually 2. It was initially just the front. Then the rear was later added.

Not sure where the cut off dates were, but there was also an engine coolant recall that happened. They used a silicate based coolant. It chemically reacted with the aluminum. In particular the water pump. It gets replaced with silicate free. Again, way easier now with front end pulled down.

Ok, I will, I know I have to bleed the brakes after having to remove that fork leg/anti-dive.
I'll do the clutch too.
I'm going to do a coolant flush as well, and use Engine-Ice for coolant.
Lots to do...
lol

I doubt you will you ever see it run warm. You got bigger radiators than mine. And I live on the front porch of hell in the summertime. And it never touches the halfway mark. Also we have what is called parade mode. Less than 10 mph and the ECU reverses the fans from suck in to blow out to move air over the radiators in slow traffic.

I was certain my legs were being burned off when it first happened.

Can't help there. Mine are cartridge style inserts. And that was done before me.

I went up the mountain today to watch the annual Scooter Safari Rally in progress, 250 participants riding scooters from east coast to the west coast over the Southern Alps.
It looks like they’re having the time of their lives it wasn’t really like that.
Some really struggled riding through a cold mountain pass on a gutless and slow little scooter… all in name of raising funds for charity.
It’s a full day ride and they stay overnight and trailer their scooters home.. bit of fun I suppose lol.
This is shot at lake Lyndon, top of the Porters Pass, South Island NZ.

When I rolled up on the Busa I got a lot of attention, people came up and chatted about Hayabusas, lol.. some younger ones had never seen a Busa in captivity before. It was a good way of meeting and interacting with people!
Fun days!
