Who Rode Today?

The local municipal airport had a car show and 1/4 mile run for people to do today..

I went up and watched through the fence and from a good vantage point saw a few good runs, I even saw my bud on his bone stock '99 copper Busa do a run and it was fast. There were a couple bikes-a KTM, a ZX10 all stretched, an H2...I think the Busa was fastest from where I sat.

A couple lads on dirt bikes were at the same point as I was and they told me I should take my bike down the strip to show them what fast was....I declined as I need not prove how inadequate a rider I am in front of the whole town...

There was a fair wind blowing and it was hot as heck out...(high humidity).

I got in a 150 miler today, just puttin around. Ran up to a buck forty a couple times but otherwise just cruising. At the lookout pictured, a 59 year old 300 pound female Harley rider rode up with the loudest stereo I’ve ever heard coming from a bike. As we looked at the twisties below (called the Golden Chain highway) hiway 49, she told me her age and that the last time she rode those corners she crashed over the edge sending her old Harley end over end down the mountain. She added that before she turns 60 she had to ride it again but despite her injuries from that crash (“lucky to be alive”)

she was still riding a 900 pound bad handling bagger with 16” wheels front and rear, she proudly claimed only cost her 16K used, and was wearing only a leather vest over a T shirt, tennis shoes and jeans, no gloves and one of those worthless top cap half helmets. I always say ride em if ya got em so, to each their own. (She was very talkative) Only saw a handful of bikes, all Harleys and two Can Am style trikes. Nice day, averaged 40 mpg.

Nice to see your Busa got to get out of the garage..

Very nice scenery...

Rode yesterday. Still no jacket but hands hurt more and more all the sooner. Have been kicking around the idea of giving up riding if I can’t stop the pain. I can ride about 10 min before i have to shake it to get it to stop.
I do not know if this will help your condition exactly , but if you fit fat grips and a true 1/4 turn throttle , this can help with more relaxed better grip and less arm pump fatigue .

I tried fat grips once but they were spongy and caused me to actually grip them harder to maintain grip. If you go with fatter grips get solid ones. As for a 1/4 turn throttle I wouldn’t want one for the street especially in the twisties.

I got a little bit fatter gel grips and they didn't help much.

I need a cruise control so I can relax my right hand but where I would be able to safely use a cruise control is few and far between around here.

I have to plan my rides both for distance and for me to not do other activities which make my hands hurt (shovelling, raking, driving the tractor/truck, etc...).

Fatter grips are solid ones , I wouldnt recommend anything else , definately not those extra soft covers , never would bother to buy them either !!:)
1/4 turn is great in the twisties , what are you riding !!

This is my favorite lunch place. You better take a calendar in here or you won't know what century it is! Its famous around here and all bikers go there. Real live authentic biker dive. Only problem is it's not a BMW crowd and they are not to happy to see a Brother roll up on one, Lol! I usually go early in the day, wouldn't show up there unarmed after dark. Still a cool place and the burgers are amazing.

Did a couple miles on the Busa this morning, early before the cops get out. Amazing bike. I took her to Redline (Honda of Virginia Beach now) to look at the Quick Shifter and the thumb brake. I hate leaving her anywhere but she's in good hands.

1491 miles over the past 4 days, with the bulk of those miles exploring Nevada. The highlight was Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains outside of Elko. Thirteen miles of stunning beauty, but cold and snowy by the end of the scenic road.
