Who Rode Today?

I’m heading out tomorrow. I’d like to visit King’s Canyon/Sequoia NP, SE from here but the first hour and the last hour, the temps will be in the mid 90s. Inside the Park up high the temps are supposed to be in the mid 50s! Helluva difference. Don’t know why/how the temps there, at lower elevations,

are so much lower than inside Yosemite.

I went out for a short ride after a failed attempt to remove the Pair (need the plug delete).

It was friggin' hot out there...but I find this new PR5 warms up and really gets some serious traction...I've inadvertently lifted the front tire a few times when getting a bit ham fisted with the "go fast bar"

274 Smiles today thru the Sequoia NF and the Kings Canyon/Sequoia NPs. Got up to 7,335’ and although HOT down below, the weather was spectacular! I’ll save any narrative for later if anyone’s interested. I’m bushed. Despite the dozens of neck wrecking downhill 1st gear 10 mph hairpins up high, at least a hundred + miles to get there and back were in triple digits in 98 degree sun! Wore me out. Apparently wore out my PR too.

@wazza, you sure do live in a spectacular area there in America, the size of the trees and the mountain ranges . . mind blowing.
Those photos are stunning.

Thanks! I watched a Chef Ramsey special that took place mostly on Stewart Island, right off your southern coast. What a beautiful place! No roads to speak of but seeing your pics, your area looks good (and) you’ve got an ocean. I’m about 220 miles from the Pacific, where I like to start the ride north, and I miss it. Having lived there for so long I (hard to believe) kinda got tired of the same roads and scenery up and down the coast. I’ve been here for three years now and have pretty much ridden all the good roads nearby. Not sure if I’ll ever get tired of them though.

. . . . hehe, coming from the guy that puts a bra on his beautiful fuel tank . .
gotta laugh Terry, the pot callin' the kettle . . well, you know.

Between jeans with armor, armored leather pants and ballistic overpants, I didn't want any scuffs or paint problem on the tank. I remove it routinely and clean and polish the tank underneath. Didn’t want any yellowing, fading or whatever once I decided to keep it in place. It does break up the silver streak a bit though.

A bit?? Let me say this . . .
The Silver Streak is GONE !!!

There ya go . . fixed . . .

Hopefully they are here for thousands of years...it all depends what the generations to come do to preserve them.

Interestingly enough, one of the seniors I look after, her husband used to work in the experimental forestry-his job was go around and collect seeds from all plants and trees within the boreal forest so the "tree scientists" could preserve them.

When he retired, they couldn't find anyone to replace him-he'd climb all the trees to collect various seeds and sometimes spend weeks in the forest-nobody wanted to do that.

Staffing at the experimental forestry has dropped to almost nobody and the government cut their funding into almost nothing...sadly there's the future of the forestry.

I know a lot of people who would take a job like that in a heartbeat. Our Bridge inspection guys are regular frontiersman. Also know some volunteer fire jumpers.

Nice to see you riding the Busa for a change lol.
Say, do you replace tyres as a pair? Or just as they wear out time wise?
I’ve always done pairs and it’s so nice to corner with brand new tyres, the radius profiles are perfect and so is the turn-in into corners!
