I found several ways to connect the Wii to the internet. I'll list them all here.

* Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector
Connect a Nintendo Wii to the Internet through a Wireless Router
Step 1
Turn on your Nintendo Wii by plugging it into a power source and pressing the power button.
Step 2
Press the "A" button on your Wii controller to continue from the warning screen.
Step 3
Select "Wii" button in the left hand corner of the main menu, by using your Wii remote to move the hand shaped cursor over the "Wii" button and pressing the "A" button on the controller to select the Wii options.
Step 4
Click the "Wii Settings" box on the right.
Step 5
Select the left arrow to scroll over to more options. Then select "Internet" from the list and "Connection Settings."
Step 6
Choose an open connection by selecting the "Connection 3: None" option, then the "Wireless Connection" option, and the "Search for an Access Point Option."
Step 7
Choose the access point you want to use from the list that will be displayed. Save the settings by clicking "OK." Then click "OK" to start a connection test. When the test is complete you are connected.
Connect a Nintendo Wii to the Internet with a Wii LAN Adapter
Step 1
Insert the Wii LAN Adapter into the USB port on the back of the console.
Step 2
Connect an Ethernet cable from your modem or router to the adapter.
Step 3
Turn on the Wii console.
Step 4
Click the "Wii" options button in the lower left hand corner. Select the "Wii Settings" option by clicking on the left square. Scroll to list more options by clicking on the blue arrow to the left of the screen. Choose "Internet" from the list of options.

Select "Connection Status," then "Connection 3: None" and "Wired Connection."
Step 6
Click "OK" to initiate the connection test. When the test is done you should be connected.
Connect a Nintendo Wii to the Internet through a PC
Step 1
Insert the CD that came with the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector into a PC running Windows XP that is connected to high speed internet. When the setup window appears click "OK" to start the installation.
Step 2
Choose your language and click "OK".
Step 3
Insert the connector into a USB port on the PC when prompted. Hook the connector directly to the PC as ports on the monitor and keyboard will not work.
Step 4
Click on the registration tool on the Windows task bar.
Step 5
Turn on the Wii console. Click the "Wii" options button in the lower-left corner. Select the "Wii Settings" option by clicking on the left square. Scroll to list more options by clicking on the blue arrow to the left of the screen. Choose "Internet" from the list of options.
Step 6
Select "Connection Status," then "Connection 3: None" and "Wireless Connection." Choose "Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector" from the options list, then "Next" to continue.
Step 7
Return to your PC and you will find your Wii listed in the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector Registration Tool window. Click on your Wii's name and select "Grant Permission to Connect."
Step 8
Return to your Wii and click "Next" for the setup completion window, and then click "OK" to run the connection test.
